Not sure what I did to deserve the right mix of day job support with all the beautiful doors that are opening outside of that world. Not taking a single moment for granted.

International book launch ✅
Catskills retreat with life-changing women ✅
Day job Miami-ness with a side of podcast ✅
Cool conversations with even cooler individuals. ✅

And more to come, though praise be for a few days of rest at home in between.

All in thus far, this I know to be true: ⬇️

There are lots of good people out there who want you to thrive and fly. And then you start to trust in it because they prove over time just how much they have your back.

And then the “Who do you think you are?” inner voice gets quieter and the “Step into your calling” voice reminds you to keep believing in what you are building, and to bring others along too.

Glory up for good people, God winks, and doing the big, audacious things! 🚀

This might be my favorite photo from Toronto.

Because it captures years of words and ideas and musings that existed only in journals, on my laptop, and in my head - now made visible.

Tuesday night I read a book passage from You Have a Gift to Bring to a standing room only crowd. Some of the attendees I already knew. Most I’d never met.

Before the fireside chat began, I spent some time talking with a few younger women who were attending. We got on the topic of networking and industry events, and they admitted something I think a lot of people feel:

Events like this can be intimidating.

They knew it was important to show up, build relationships, and meet people. But walking into a room where you don’t know many people can feel uncomfortable.

A little later, during the fireside chat, it was time for me to read a passage from the book.

I opened it and realized I’d forgotten my reading glasses (which is a shame, because the frames are pink and what my late mother-in-law would call “hooty” and just completely fabulous and fun and functional, albeit doing me no good thosuands of miles away in the home office desk). 🤦🏼‍♀️

When I mentioned it, one of the women attending as a guest immediately jumped up and handed me hers.

Before focusing in on the pages which I could now actually read clearly, I laughed and told the room:

“I was just talking with some of the younger women here tonight about how intimidating events like this can feel when you don’t know anyone. Y’all just saw what happened. Seriously - do not feel intimidated, because this is how we roll and this is how we show up for each other.”

That moment pretty much set the tone for the entire evening.

The fireside chat ended. People stayed. The room gradually got smaller, but nobody seemed eager to leave.

Conversations continued. Stories were shared. Books were signed.

It was one of those nights where the scheduled event ended, but the real conversations kept going.

And they continue…

I am every bit as exhausted as I look in these first few pics, but the temporary tired is worth it as my heart is nothing less than overjoyed.

And thank goodness that even though I was so worn out that I accidentally left the key in the door last night, no one else seemed to notice. 😳😅

The last three days have been a beautiful reunion with old friends (in time not age haha) and newer friends, and then getting to meet so many fantastic men and women who work in payments. Along with their friends from other industries who came along to see what last night’s book launch was all about.

Real and honest conversations are the very best conversations of all. That’s what this book is creating, and I am here for every second of it.

And also, so much love for the people who I’ve known and cared for for years, and also those that I met for the first time last night.

If all of the exchanges we shared last night taught me anything, it is this:

Regardless of background, age, gender, beliefs, values, or individual experiences, there is far more that binds us together in shared humanity than certain loud and divisive voices would have us believe.

That theme keeps showing up in the gatherings I am participating in related to the book and I give thanks for it.

We ALL have a gift to bring!

Love,
Rebecca

Professional pics will roll in soon, but for now, a quick end of evening snap thanks to the super sweet bartender before I head back to the Airbnb.

What a remarkably special evening! I will cherish it always.

Glory to God and more to come.

With love and thanksgiving,
Rebecca

That’s how it felt not once but twice this week to get to know women I’ve liked but didn’t really know particularly well (yet).

It is not *that* hard or scary to reach out and initiate a get to know you better coffee or lunch. And the more I do it, the more blessings I discover.

One of these ladies actually got me out of my exercise slump and out of the house earlier than I’ve been in recent memory. And I felt better the whole day for burning all those sweaty calories, which was easier to do because of the accountability and our conversation.

And then today, it happened again. Just swap the power walk for al fresco brunch and an easygoing, enjoyable chat of equal parts candor and camaraderie (plus this quick post brunch pic at home as proof that I don’t always wear workout clothes…mere moments before I took off the jewelry and makeup and threw my hair into a ponytail and changed back into workout clothes 😂).

If you read this and it puts somebody on your heart, hope you’ll make an effort to reach out to them this week and to start building a new friendship! I promise you your inner introvert will be glad you did. 🙋‍♀️

With love (in leggings),
Rebecca

From Amsterdam to Toronto (June 2024, meet June 2026).

Almost two years apart, down to the week. With countless key moments in between.

Looking back at this stage from Europe and smiling at where the road has led since.

Some stories unfold one conversation at a time. I sure like where this one is headed.

Love to all and sending weekend blessings to you and yours. And wishing all my Amsterdam-bound fintech friends a safe and productive trip!

💜,
Rebecca
