Imagine how the world would change if this was actually enforced in family court! That day is coming soon, R. Kelli, or is it Kelli R. 🤔
A correctional officer assigned to the Holliday Unit in Huntsville was arrested May 28 after investigators concluded she falsely accused a fellow Texas Department of Criminal Justice employee of sexually assaulting her, according to a complaint filed by investigators with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
The complaint accuses Meghann Tyler Aldridge, 25, of making a false statement to law enforcement during a criminal investigation. Investigators allege Aldridge reported on Feb. 14 that an unknown man forced his way into her home, sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone. She later underwent a forensic sexual assault examination at Huntsville Memorial Hospital.
According to the complaint, investigators obtained consent to examine Aldridge’s cell phone and found activity that they say contradicted her account. Records reviewed by investigators showed Facebook activity, calls to the Holliday Unit and three deleted selfie photographs allegedly taken at a time Aldridge claimed she was tied to a bed and being assaulted. Investigators noted the photographs showed her standing and wearing glasses, despite her earlier statement that her glasses had been knocked off during the alleged attack.
Investigators said Aldridge later identified a fellow TDCJ correctional officer assigned to the Byrd Unit as the alleged attacker. After being confronted with phone records, she allegedly changed the date of the reported assault multiple times while continuing to insist the officer was responsible.
According to the complaint, the correctional officer Aldridge accused told investigators he had been working overtime at the Bill Clements Unit in Amarillo during the period in question. Investigators later obtained employment records and shift documentation that they say confirmed he was working in Amarillo and could not have committed the offense as alleged.
The complaint notes that investigators reviewed prior sexual assault reports involving Aldridge in Texas and New York. The complaint further states that the Sam Houston State University Police Department had an open case involving a report by Aldridge that a man exposed himself to her.
The complaint states Aldridge later acknowledged to investigators that she had attempted to tell her fiancé she had “made the whole thing up,” though investigators said she continued to maintain to law enforcement that a sexual assault had occurred. Investigators also noted that DNA testing from the sexual assault examination identified DNA from Aldridge and her fiancé on the rope allegedly used during the assault, while semen recovered during the examination was attributed to her fiancé. No DNA from a third party was identified, according to the complaint.
A warrant was issued May 28, and Aldridge was arrested later that day by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators reported that more than six hours of recorded interviews were conducted and seven officers participated in some aspect of the investigation. Aldridge is being held on a $2,500 bond. Employment records show she was hired by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in August 2023.
