Wolfcamp D has 16,598 wells on record.
But only 388 permits have been filed in the last 24 months.

That gap says a lot about where this bench is headed.

With 553 operators in the formation — and the top ten controlling roughly 65% of the installed base — the next phase of Wolfcamp D development will be shaped by who owns the rock, not just how much inventory remains.

Most mineral owners find out their tract is being developed when the division order shows up. By then, the operator has already been filing permits for months.

Over the last 90 days, 308 operators filed 2,273 drilling permits in Texas. The top 10 accounted for roughly 31% of that activity.

We ranked them, broke down where they're concentrating, and explained what that could mean for royalty timing.
