Cooler weather is coming. The rodents know it too.

As temperatures start to drop in North Texas, mice and rats begin looking for warm, protected places to settle in—and sometimes that means our garages, attics and homes.

Now is a good time to walk around the outside of your house and look for potential entry points.

A few places Mark recommends checking:

🏠 Gaps around garage doors
🔧 Openings around pipes and utility lines
🌳 Tree branches touching or hanging over the roof
🐦 Bird seed or pet food stored outside
💨 Attic and roof vents
🕳️ Small gaps or holes around the exterior
🧺 Dryer vents that aren’t closing properly

And remember: rodents can get through surprisingly small openings. Finding and sealing those entry points before you hear scratching in the attic is much easier than dealing with rodents once they’re inside.

Not sure what you’re looking at? Send Mark a photo or give him a text. He’s always happy to help you figure out whether it’s something you need to worry about.

🐭 Good pest control isn’t just about treating pests. It’s about keeping them out in the first place.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at Mark doing rodent exclusion work at a North Texas home.

Exclusion means identifying and sealing potential entry points—like gaps along the roofline—that mice and rats can use to get inside.

As cooler weather approaches, now is a great time to make sure your home isn’t offering rodents an easy way in.

Because preventing a pest problem is always better than dealing with one later.

🌧️ The storms have passed—now take another five-minute walk around your yard.

Last week, we told you what to check before the rain. Now that we’ve had some much-needed rain in North Texas, it’s time to check again.

Look for new standing water in places like:

🪣 Buckets, toys and containers
🪴 Flowerpots and saucers
🐦 Birdbaths
🏠 Gutters that aren’t draining properly
🪑 Outdoor furniture and covers
♻️ Trash and recycling bins or lids
🌿 Low spots or anything around the yard that’s holding water

Dump what you can, tip containers upside down, and clear anything that’s keeping water from draining.

Mosquitoes only need a small amount of standing water to breed, so a quick walk around the yard after a storm can make a difference.

And now that we’re heading into October, we’re starting to make our seasonal shift too. Next up: getting your home ready before rodents start looking for a warm place to spend the cooler months. 🐭

🌧️ North Texas is under a Flood Watch beginning this afternoon. Before the rain starts, take five minutes to walk your yard.

Look for anything that’s already holding water or could collect more during the storms:

🪣 Buckets
🧸 Kids’ toys
🪴 Planters and saucers
🏠 Clogged gutters
💧 Tarps, outdoor furniture, or other containers

Dump what you can now and clear anything that may keep water from draining.

Once the storms pass, we’ll show you what to check again—because all that new standing water can quickly create ideal places for mosquitoes to breed.

Stay safe and dry, North Texas! 🌧️

Today, we remember. 🇺🇸

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the first responders and everyday Americans who showed extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy.

May we never forget.

Today we’re taking a moment to appreciate all the people who work hard to make our North Texas communities such great places to live, work and raise our families.
As small business owners, we’re especially grateful for the customers, fellow local businesses and community partners who support one another throughout the year.
We hope you’re able to slow down, spend some time with people you love and enjoy the long weekend.

A little behind the scenes at Nottingham. 💚
No two days look quite the same around here. Some days Mark is out treating homes across Tarrant County, some days he’s working from home, and every once in a while the job happens to be at one of our son’s friends’ houses—which means he gets to tag along for a little field trip. 😁
One of the things we love about owning a small business is the way work, family, and community sometimes overlap.
We’re grateful for another week and for all of you who trust us to take care of your homes. Hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend!

🦟 Mosquito reminder!

Just because it's hot doesn't mean the mosquitoes have gone away.
Take five minutes this week to walk around your yard and dump out any standing water you find.

Check:
✔️ Flower pots
✔️ Buckets
✔️ Kids' toys
✔️ Bird baths
✔️ Gutters
✔️ Anything else holding water

Even small amounts of standing water can become a breeding spot for mosquitoes.

If you'd like to spend more time enjoying your yard and less time swatting mosquitoes, we're here to help.
