Ensemble is a Collaborative Business Community and Coworking Space dedicated to assisting entrepreneurs, small business owners and independent professionals achieve their highest level of success. Success looks and feels different to each one of our clientele, who are called Groupies (or members), and our goal is to help them take continual steps towards business growth. Housed inside a beautiful and inspiring coworking space, members connect, share and collaborate in a whole new way. No longer is the small business owner alone working at their kitchen table lacking inspiration and distracted by dishes, dogs or children. With Ensemble, entrepreneurs share workspace, participate in accountability and mentoring programs, network, refer business to one another and experience “accelerated serendipity,” a term coined in the coworking industry. Freelancers can leave the noisy coffee shops and share a cup of coffee and workspace inside Ensemble. Coworking along with strategic programs, mentoring and accountability go hand in hand to assist entrepreneurs in growing their businesses. This model also opens doors to more aspiring entrepreneurs and provides scalability for those businesses that have been stuck or playing ‘small’ for far too long.

Writing your own Boss’s Day post feels a little like signing your own birthday card. Slightly awkward. 😂

Thankfully, my team made the day easy to celebrate with a sign, some incredibly cute gifts, and a reminder of how fortunate I am to lead alongside them.

Being the boss comes with authority, but it also comes with responsibility. I never want to take for granted the power to set the tone, build trust, support people, and create an environment where everyone can do their best work.

Leading this team is a privilege. They support me, uplift me, care deeply about our members, and bring Ensemble to life every day. The title may be mine, but the team is what makes Ensemble feel like Ensemble.

Thank you for making me feel so celebrated today. And yes, I will happily accept the cute gifts. I may be reflective, but I am not ridiculous. 😊

Waiting until the entire plan is clear is one of the easiest ways to keep an idea standing still.

Progress usually begins with one specific action:
- Send the email.
- Make the call.
- Test the offer.
- Ask for feedback.
- Block the time on the calendar.
- Begin before everything feels perfectly ready.

Ensemble’s focus in October is Action and Implementation. The goal is not to accomplish everything at once. It is to identify the next meaningful step and take it.

What if one of those next steps is simply changing where you work?

A coworking space will not take the action for you, but working around people who are building, testing, solving problems, and taking steps of their own can bring fresh energy and momentum to your work.

How many good business ideas never make it past the thinking stage?

Fear, overthinking, lack of confidence, and waiting until everything feels perfect can keep an idea in someone's head far longer than it needs to be.

Our founder, Tamara Carlen, knows that cycle well. After more than twenty-five years as an entrepreneur and more than a decade of watching businesses start and grow inside Ensemble, she's learned that having a good idea isn't enough.

You have to find out if there's actually a business there.

That means talking to potential customers, testing the problem you're trying to solve, creating the smallest version of your idea you can test, and being willing to take action before every detail is figured out.

It also means accepting that the answer might be no.

An idea may need to change. You may need to pivot. You may even discover that something you thought was a great idea isn't a viable business.

That's not failure. That's valuable information you learned before investing even more time and money.
In this week's blog, Tamara shares five practical steps to move from idea to action, along with lessons from her own entrepreneurial journey and what she's seen in more than ten years of working alongside entrepreneurs at Ensemble.

We are still buzzing from National Coffee Day, and not just because of the caffeine.

Ensemble member Dale Gilliam turned September 29 into a full coffee experience by creating a tasting of five different coffees. He prepared tasting notes, shared where each coffee originated, and even included several coffees he roasted himself.

Dale taught us that the coffee bean is actually the seed of a fruit and explained how processing the fruit and seed creates the different flavors and notes we experience in each cup.

The most meaningful part was why he did it. Dale created the entire tasting from his heart because he wanted to share something he loves and give the Ensemble community an opportunity to learn.

We left with a greater appreciation for coffee and were adequately caffeinated for the rest of the day.

Thank you, Dale, for the time, care, and knowledge you poured into this experience. This is what community looks like when members share what they love with one another.

I recorded this because I believe transparency matters, especially when it comes to protecting our community and the business we have spent more than ten years building together.

The past several days have brought an unusual situation to Ensemble. Rather than stay silent or let others define the story, I wanted to share directly what happened, why we have taken a few precautionary steps, and what matters most moving forward.

Running a business already comes with enough decisions, distractions, and things competing for your attention.

Leadership can be lonely.

You can have people depending on you all day and still spend a surprising amount of time making decisions, solving problems, and carrying responsibility by yourself.

That is one of the things I have always loved about coworking.

You can come here to run your own business, do your own work, and pursue your own goals without spending every day completely on your own.

Sometimes what you need is a quiet place to think.

Sometimes it's someone in the kitchen asking how things are going.

Sometimes it's a conversation with another business owner who understands exactly why the thing keeping you awake at night feels so important.

And sometimes it's simply the energy that comes from working around other people who are building things too.

We've spent September talking about how to level up your leadership. Emotional intelligence matters. Communication matters. Decision-making matters.

But so does who and what you surround yourself with while you're doing all of it.

You don't have to build your business alone.
