It's not often we get to drive in the off-road open to get to a job. Most of our jobs sites are accessible through narrow forested "roads." And many jobs require that we park and walk or ride the machine to the area we're cutting. This pasture reclamation project is coming to a close. And though we're thankful to start another awesome project, we'll miss this daily drive.

We're excited to share that Hunter and Land Revival are the west zone coordinators for the Central Alabama Prescribed Burn Association.
Both Hunter and Jessica are Certified Prescribed Burn Managers and know the importance that prescribed fire has in habitat management.
One of our goals is getting more Tuscaloosa area people involved in CAPBA and teaching the younger generations the importance of prescribed fire.

We had a great time at the 2026 Fall Expo in Tuscaloosa last week.
We appreciate Tuscaloosa County inviting us to attend giving us the opportunity to meet some great people.

Ran across these pictures from about 4 years ago.

We've been in full Black Belt Prairie restoration mode the last few weeks. Being reminded of some of our first restoration projects make us thankful for how far we've come and how many acres we've had the privilege of getting to restore.

We're excited for what the rest of 2026 has in store.

A recent Black Belt Prairie site we worked on is COVERED in these shells!
All of these came within about a 5 foot section. And these were just a few within this area.

It's always neat to admire the ecological diversity in any habitat, but especially even within the same types of habitats.

Frankly, we're rather speechless, which we know doesn't happen often. This truly is an amazing honor to be amongst so many other great people within Alabama.

More prairies getting restored one load at a time.

Management Monday:
Sericea lespedeza – an exotic species from Asia – invaded this prairie after eastern red cedar trees were removed and fire was re-introduced. Restoration practices that promote development of the prairie plant community also promote the spread of sericea lespedeza. In this scenario, the frequency at which sericea lespedeza occurs in the plant community is rapidly increasing. Consequently, triclopyr herbicide was recently applied to reduce the occurrence of sericea lespedeza and increase the occurrence of native species. To minimize collateral damage, a hand crew was used to apply the herbicide.

Sometimes, this work really bites.
Thankfully, Hunter rarely lets it rattle his nerves.
We're just thankful each day continues to slither on, and we get to do what we love.
