This is how Josh Logan travels.

Phoenix to Florida. Back to Phoenix. Then California and back home again.

Over 90 law enforcement and security professionals from around the world trained in just two weeks. A lot of travel, a lot of rounds downrange, and a lot of equipment put to work.

I’ve been testing Boar Products gun cleaner and lubricant, and after two weeks of extensive use, I can confidently say I’m impressed. The fi****ms ran flawlessly throughout the training. No issues, no excuses. Just results.

I believe in using equipment that I trust, and more importantly, equipment that has proven itself through actual use.

Here’s what travels with me:

• Safariland Group for my duty holsters.

• High Speed Gear® for my belts and magazine pouches.

• North American Rescue for my medical equipment.

• Apex Development for my lumbar pack.

• PHLster for my concealed carry holsters.

• SureFire LLC for my weapon-mounted and hand-held lights.

• Aimpoint Inc. and Holosun Technologies for my optics.

• Pelican Products for keeping everything protected and secure.

• Boar Products for keeping my fi****ms cleaned and lubricated.

I don’t believe in recommending equipment simply because of a name or a logo. I believe in equipment that performs when it’s put to work.

As instructors, we have a responsibility to demonstrate the same standards we expect from our students. That includes the equipment we carry, the way we maintain it, and our ability to explain why we trust it.

Equipment should earn your confidence through performance, not marketing.

Always a Student, Sometimes a Teacher.

ABC15 Arizona spoke with Josh following a road rage shooting investigated by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office near Arizona Avenue and Hunt Highway.

A man was shot in the chest and transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. One person was detained, questioned and later released pending the investigation.

I joined ABC15 to discuss some of the issues investigators have to consider in a case like this, including self-defense, Arizona’s stand-your-ground laws, escalation, witness statements, video evidence and the circumstances leading up to the use of deadly force.

One of the biggest takeaways is also one of the simplest: the best fight you can ever have is the one you don’t have at all.

Check your ego at the door. De-escalate. Disengage. Drive away when you safely can.

Another IALEFI Annual Training Conference is in the books, and this one was a little different for me. It was my first ATC serving on the IALEFI Board of Directors.

I had the opportunity to learn from The Fat Ninjas and Dave “Boon” Benton, teach Mid-South Institute Combat Shooting, and spend time with some outstanding instructors from across the country and beyond.

Karen and I also had the opportunity to meet Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina and Palm Bay Police Chief Jeff Spears, reunite with Mark Lamb and Art DeCueto, and reconnect with old friends while making plenty of new ones.

One of the highlights was having the privilege of coining five new members of the Triple Nickel Society, including a Mid-South Institute instructor and two Queensland, Australia Police Officers. Pretty damn cool seeing how far this little tradition continues to reach.

Being elected to the IALEFI Board this year makes me even more appreciative of the organization, the people behind it, and the opportunity to help contribute to its future.

I came to Florida to teach, serve and learn. I’m leaving a better student.

Always a Student, Sometimes a Teacher.

🚨 FAKE COP ON I-17?

I joined Megan Spector and FOX 10 Phoenix to discuss a disturbing case involving a man accused of impersonating a police officer and pulling over motorists on Interstate 17.

One of the biggest concerns with police impersonators is that drivers have to make decisions in real time. Is this actually law enforcement? Is this a legitimate traffic stop? What do you do when something just doesn’t feel right?

If you are uncertain, slow down, turn on your hazard lights, keep your doors locked, call 911, and communicate that you are attempting to verify the stop and move to a safe location.

You don’t have to ignore a traffic stop to take reasonable steps to confirm that the person stopping you is actually a police officer.

Thank you to Megan Spector and FOX 10 Phoenix for having me on to provide some perspective and, more importantly, information people can actually use.

Josh Logan Guardian will be joining Megan Spector on FOX 10 Phoenix at 5 PM today to discuss a recent case involving a man accused of impersonating a police officer and conducting a traffic stop on I-17.

According to Arizona DPS, the suspect allegedly used emergency lights to pull over another driver before approaching the vehicle while presenting himself as law enforcement.

We’ll talk about what happened, the concerns surrounding police impersonation, and what you should do if you’re being stopped and something about the situation just doesn’t seem right.

Tune in to FOX 10 Phoenix at 5 PM.

This is what ILEETA is all about.

My good friend Dan Fraser is a highly respected instructor, presenter, ILEETA member, and fellow cop from up north. Yes, a Canuck. 🇨🇦

Dan sent me these pictures from Coral Harbour, Nunavut, where apparently the post shooting scan has a slightly different purpose.

As Dan put it:

“Here, when you scan after each facing it’s not just range theatrics…you’re actually watching for polar bears.”

That may be one of the best fi****ms instructor comments I’ve heard in a while. 😂🐻‍❄️

But there’s a bigger point.

This is what ILEETA represents to me.

It brings together instructors from around the world who may wear different uniforms, work in completely different environments, and face challenges most of us will never experience, yet we’re all trying to accomplish the same thing:

Make the people we train better and safer.

We exchange ideas. We challenge each other. We learn from each other. And somewhere along the way, we build friendships that extend far beyond a conference classroom or firing line.

Dan and I may work a long way apart, but the mission translates.

Arizona to the Canadian Arctic. Desert to tundra. 🌵➡️🐻‍❄️

Different environments. Different experiences. Same profession. Same commitment to getting better.

That’s the community. That’s the value of organizations like ILEETA. And that’s why relationships with instructors from across the country and across borders matter.

Always a Student, Sometimes a Teacher.

Stay warm up there, brother.

And apparently… keep your head on a swivel. 😂🇨🇦🇺🇸
