Nobody tells you what building looks like.

I raised five kids. Four boys, one girl. Three of them are in this picture, one son and my daughter aren't shown, but all five of them taught me the same thing.

You don't build by knowing the outcome. You build by showing up.

I spent years as an electrician. Then years working for companies. And somewhere along the way I realized I related more to the small business owner in the truck than anyone in a boardroom.

So now I work with them.

Quick thought from a networking event I was at today.

Everybody seems to have gotten the same notification .... "𝗚𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳." I keep seeing them. Plumber with He-Man arms holding a pair of channel locks. Spotless uniform. Perfect smile. Truck gleaming in the background.

It gets my attention for a second. Then I keep scrolling.

𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹? 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗹? 𝗢𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀?

I don't care about going viral. I care about getting calls. And people call people they trust. And trust comes from knowing who's on the other end of the line.

When I see a 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂, dirty boots, real smile, mid-job, I know exactly who I'm calling. I know you're local. I know you do the work. I know you're real.
