Washer suddenly banging around during the spin cycle?
One unbalanced load happens. But if your washer is shaking or banging with normal loads over and over, the problem may be with the washer itself.
Worn suspension components, leveling problems, excessive tub movement, or even poor draining can contribute.

Dryer gets hot but takes forever to dry your clothes?
Don't automatically assume the dryer needs a heating element.
A restricted exhaust vent can trap moisture inside the dryer even though it's producing plenty of heat.
🔧 Dereck's Tip: With the dryer running, check the outside vent. You should feel strong airflow and see the vent flap opening properly.
Poor airflow = poor drying.

Dryer runs only while you're holding the Start button?
Don't automatically assume the Start switch is bad.
Once the motor starts, its run circuit is supposed to keep it operating after you release Start. Depending on the dryer, a problem with the motor's centrifugal switch, motor relay, wiring, timer, or control can prevent that from happening. �

Washer finishes the cycle but keeps draining nonstop?
On many Whirlpool-built washers—including Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, Roper, and Estate—the problem can be as simple as a control reset or a dirty water-level sensing system.
It can also be a bad control board.
🔧 Dereck's Tip: Don't jump straight to the board. The washer may simply be getting the wrong water-level information.

Refrigerator running but just not getting cold enough?
Sometimes the evaporator coil tells us exactly where to look.
On a properly operating refrigerator, we expect a fairly even frost pattern. If frost develops on only the first few coils, it can indicate a sealed-system or refrigerant-flow problem—not a fan or sensor that needs to be guessed at.
🔧 Dereck's Tip: A refrigerator producing some cold air doesn't necessarily mean the refrigeration system is working properly.

Water underneath your garbage disposal? It may not be the disposal itself.
Leaks can come from the sink mounting fl**ge, dishwasher connection, drain connection, or the disposal housing.

Is there anyone in the valley that needs old appliances picked up or have running machines with minor issues for sale? Malones appliance is considering getting machines and fixing themselves we can resell them with a warranty. Can't find a good store front, but I have a decent amd large garage. Im not stoked about bringing people by for purchasing, but the valley needs a good used appliance outlet. Get ahold of me and let me know what you have or do you support the idea? I need the communities help to get started and to keep it going.

Gas oven won't heat even though the igniter is glowing?
Here's something many people don't realize: a gas oven igniter can glow and still be bad.
On many ranges, the igniter has to draw the proper amount of electrical current before the safety valve will open and allow gas to the burner. A weak igniter may glow normally but never get the burner lit.
🔧 Dereck's Tip: If your oven has been taking longer and longer to light, don't ignore the change. A slow-lighting oven can give us an important diagnostic clue.
Seeing a part operate doesn't always mean it's operating correctly.

Dryer suddenly squealing, thumping, or scraping? Don't assume it's done for.
Dryers have several moving parts that can create similar noises—drum supports, rollers or glides, the belt and idler, blower components, and even foreign objects can all be possibilities.
🔧 Dereck's Tip: Pay attention to whether the noise is constant or repeats with every turn of the drum. That's a useful diagnostic clue.
Some pretty awful dryer noises turn out to be very repairable. I'd rather come hear it, find the actual cause, and then tell you what it needs.

Washer won't spin? It may not be the problem you think it is.
A washer that won't enter high-speed spin can have a lid or door-lock problem, but it can also be caused by something completely different.
For example, many washers won't spin properly until they've drained the water. A drain problem can therefore look like a spin problem.
🔧 Dereck's Tip: If your washer stops before spin, notice whether there's still water in the tub. That's an important diagnostic clue.
Don't assume the worst from the symptom. I'd rather look at the machine and find out what it's actually doing before recommending a repair.
