Every year during the month of June, the Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) community celebrates Pride Month. This month serves to recognize the influence the LGBTQIA+ community has had across the globe. This month was chosen because of the Stonewall Riots in 1969, Greenwich Village, New York City, NY.
Pride Month is to commemorate a tipping point in our history and to bring about awareness of the LGBTQIA+ community and the diversity we have in one another. It is important to recognize the accomplishments of the gay rights movement and how much has been accomplished in their fight for equality. Pride also serves as a reminder of the importance of diversity and inclusion, the joy and power of recognizing the full value of everyone, and the battle for acceptance and inclusion.
BERG recognizes and supports diversity in the workplace and if you ever have questions or concerns please refer to the resources and links provided below. We know - navigating being LGBTQIA+ in science can be very difficult.
