Chief Palermo had the opportunity to observe probationary firefighter/paramedics Matthew McGarry and William Sweetman in action at the Romeoville Fire Academy today. It is hard to believe that they are more than halfway through with their fire academy training and will be graduating in just 3 weeks! Great job guys and keep up the good work!

Station 2 companies just picked up from a fully involved auto fire on 294. The fuel tank let loose creating an exta hazard on an already dangerous stretch of the tollway while crews were working. No injuries were reported.

Truck 2 with FF Sinanagic on the stick assisted Schiller Park earlier this evening with a fire at Sexton Pond

This morning Firefighter Keefner walked out of the door at station one for the last time. He’s moving onto the next chapter and hopefully enjoying a long retirement after serving the residents of Franklin Park for the past 26 years.  We are going to miss your leadership as the barn boss and definitely your carpentry skills at all of our houses. Enjoy Tennessee and a long, healthy retirement.

This evening we celebrated the promotion of Kevin Bartnicki to Lieutenant. We also recognized three new members, Victor Rodriguez, William Sweetman, and Matthew McGarry who were sworn in as probationary Firefighter/Paramedics. Congrats to all! FF/PM Rodriguez will start on shift upon his completion of two weeks of training on days. FF Sweetman and FF McGarry will report to the Romeoville Fire Academy upon completion of their two weeks of days.
