The $13 finishing trick nobody teaches you 🔩

That silver screw head against a white bracket? Clients notice it. Every time.

You nailed the install — level, tight, clean. But those shiny screw heads scream “handyman,” not “professional.”

The fix: matching nail polish. White bracket, white polish. Bronze hardware, bronze polish. Dab, dry, done. Two coats if you want it flawless.

Suddenly the whole install looks intentional — like the hardware was made to blend in.

Nobody’s ever going to compliment you on a screw they can’t see. But they’ll remember the job just felt clean.

That’s the difference between fine and finished.

Leveling brackets across a wide window used to mean a ladder, a pencil, and a lot of hoping. Clamp a self-leveling laser to an extension pole, raise it to your bracket line, and let it throw a perfectly level line across the whole opening. Every bracket lands on the same mark — first time. Small move, cleaner install.

How do you keep your brackets level on the wide ones? Tell me below 👇

Quick tip for cleaner roller shade installs 👇

Obstacles win when you ignore them. Cranks, sill tile, door handles, alarm contacts — they don’t care how nice your fabric is.

So before you order: spot the obstacle, measure to it, and build the deduction into your width. A small clearance now beats a callback later.

The pros aren’t the ones with perfect windows. They’re the ones who plan for the messy ones.

✨ 2025 — A Year of Places, People & Perspective ✨

As I wrap up another year — packed with travel, big lessons, and new connections — I’ve been thinking a lot about what truly sets our businesses apart.

Whether I was installing in Boston, consulting in Tampa, or hopping across borders, one thing stood out everywhere I went:

👉 Premium service is universal.
People remember how you make them feel, not just what you deliver.

In my latest blog, “The Delta Airlines Effect: Building Customer Loyalty in the Window Covering Industry,” I break down why loyalty is earned — not with discounts — but with reliability, consistency, and service clients can feel.

As you flip through these photos from my travels this year, think about this:

📍 What experiences did YOU create in 2025 that made clients stick with you?
📍 And how will you double down on that in 2026?

For me, the focus next year is clear:
✨ Less chasing. More retaining.
✨ Less price competing. More value leading.
✨ Becoming the Delta Airlines of your market — not the bargain bin.

🔥 Ready to raise your customer experience game in 2026?
That’s exactly what Trading Up Consulting is built for — helping installers, dealers, and workrooms deliver premium service that clients feel and remember

Behind the scenes on No Strings Attached 🎙️

This is where the magic happens—late nights, strong coffee, and real conversations about what matters. Every episode starts with a question, a story, or a challenge someone's facing.

The podcast isn't polished. It's honest. It's raw. And that's exactly why people tune in week after week.

If you haven't listened yet, now's the perfect time to start. New episode every week—link in bio. 🎧
