🚧 Route 8 / 15th Street Closure & Detour Help for Franklin 🚧

If you’ve found yourself unexpectedly taking a tour of Miller Park while trying to get around the Route 8 / 15th Street closure, you’re definitely not the only one!

Since the closure began, we’ve seen a steady stream of vehicles come up into our neighborhood, circle around, and head right back toward downtown. We even had a tractor trailer make its way into our neighborhood this evening!

To hopefully help our neighbors and anyone traveling through Franklin, we’ve put up Detour signs at the intersection of Adelaide Ave and Plumer Ave with a map and directions for passenger vehicles.

➡️ Detour Route:
• Take Elk St / Liberty St through Franklin
• Turn right onto 3rd St
• Continue as the road becomes Bully Hill Rd going up the hill
• Turn right onto Congress Hill Rd
• Turn right onto Pone Ln
• Follow Pone Ln until you reach Route 8 / 15th St

📍 If you end up circling around Miller Park, look for our signs at Adelaide Ave & Plumer Ave to help point you in the right direction.

Hopefully this saves a few people some confusion over the next few days!

Please share this post to help get the word out, especially if you know someone from out of town who will be traveling through Franklin while the closure is in place.

I'm excited to share that I recently completed my annual recertification as an Intuit QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor.

Maintaining this certification helps ensure I'm staying current on new QuickBooks Online features and best practices so I can continue providing clients with knowledgeable and reliable support.

I've been working in QuickBooks Online for nearly 10 years and enjoy helping businesses make the most of their subscription by:

✓ Implementing QuickBooks Online for new businesses
✓ Assisting with migrations from spreadsheets or other accounting systems
✓ Customizing workflows and reports to fit each organization's unique needs
✓ Training business owners and staff so they can better understand and manage their operations
✓ Providing ongoing bookkeeping, payroll, and strategic financial support

QuickBooks Online is much more than accounting software. When properly implemented and utilized, it can provide valuable insight that helps business owners track performance, plan for the future, and confidently grow their organizations.

If you're considering QuickBooks Online, looking to improve your current setup, or simply have questions about getting more out of your subscription, I'd be happy to connect.

This afternoon I had the opportunity to attend the second week of the AI for Business Lunch & Learn hosted by FICDA.

I had to miss the first session because we were enjoying a family day at Waldameer, but thanks to Jessica Moran Carroll for helping me get caught up before today's session so I could jump right in.

The series is being led by an outstanding team from Carnegie Mellon University, who introduced us to DARE, their AI platform that brings together multiple AI models and provides tools for creating prompts, building custom agents, and analyzing information.

Today's session focused on building our own custom AI agents that can assist with conversations, content generation, and data analysis based on the information we provide. It was exciting to see how these tools can be customized for real business applications, and it gave me several ideas I'm looking forward to exploring.

A big thank you to Franklin Industrial & Commercial Development Authority-FICDA for bringing this opportunity to so many business leaders here in Franklin. Investing in programs like this helps strengthen our local business community, and I appreciate the effort that goes into making them available.

I'm already looking forward to the final session next Thursday!

QuickBooks Online is an incredibly powerful tool, but I often see business owners missing opportunities to save time and gain better insight into their finances.

Three of the most common issues I encounter are:

⚠️ Not connecting bank accounts

Linking your bank and credit card accounts allows transaction details to flow directly into QuickBooks, reducing manual data entry of details and making reconciliations more efficient.

⚠️ Not utilizing automation

Features like Bank Rules and Recurring Transactions can significantly reduce repetitive work and help maintain consistency in your books.

⚠️ Not customizing reports

Standard reports are helpful, but every business is unique. Custom reports can be designed to provide owners, managers, and other stakeholders with the information they need to make informed decisions.

QuickBooks isn't just software for recording transactions. When used effectively, it becomes a valuable management tool that provides visibility into the financial health of your business.

When people hear "bookkeeping," they often think about recording transactions and reconciling bank accounts.

While those are certainly important pieces, I enjoy helping organizations with much more than maintaining their books.

Some of the projects I've worked on recently include:

✓ Cleaning up historical financial records
✓ Training staff in QuickBooks Online
✓ Organizing electronic records in SharePoint
✓ Developing repeatable processes and procedures
✓ Building reports to improve visibility into financial performance
✓ Providing insight to help leadership make informed decisions

My goal is to help organizations build confidence in their financial information so they can spend less time worrying about their numbers and more time focusing on their mission, customers, and future growth.

If your organization could benefit from better systems, improved organization, or simply a fresh perspective on its financial processes, I'd be happy to connect.

One thing I've learned over the years is that getting caught up financially is only half the battle.

The bigger question is: How do you stay caught up?

Many organizations spend significant time and money cleaning up years of bookkeeping, only to find themselves in the same position a year or two later because the underlying process never changed.

Good systems help organizations:

✓ Gather supporting documents consistently
✓ Keep files organized and accessible
✓ Reduce reliance on one person
✓ Improve communication among team members
✓ Produce timely financial reports
✓ Make year-end tax and compliance work significantly easier

Sometimes the best investment isn't simply getting your books up to date. It's implementing processes that keep them that way.

One of the projects I've really enjoyed working on recently is helping a local nonprofit organization get caught up and organized financially.

Their team has done an excellent job gathering years' worth of supporting documentation so we can finish their 2025 financials and provide greater transparency to their Board of Directors, donors, and other stakeholders.

While the initial cleanup has been a significant undertaking, what excites me most is helping put systems in place so they don't end up behind again. We've worked together to develop a step-by-step process for gathering documents, organized files within SharePoint so they're easily searchable and accessible to their team, and trained their newest employee to work within QuickBooks Online.

Financial clarity isn't just important for businesses. For nonprofits, it demonstrates good stewardship, builds donor confidence, and allows leadership to focus on their mission rather than wondering where things stand financially.

It's rewarding to know that the work being done today will help position them for long-term success.

As we celebrate Independence Day, I'm reminded how thankful I am for the freedoms we enjoy every day: the freedom to worship, spend time with family, serve our communities, and pursue opportunities that allow us to provide for those we love.

I'm also grateful for our Founding Fathers and the sacrifices they made to secure those freedoms for future generations. Their courage, conviction, and willingness to fight for liberty continue to provide opportunities for Americans 250 years later.

I'm especially thankful for the opportunity to own and grow Booher Financial Solutions and to work alongside so many hardworking individuals and small business owners who take risks, chase their dreams, and help strengthen our local communities.

Whether you're spending the holiday with family, attending a parade, enjoying good food, or simply taking a well-deserved break, I hope you have a safe and meaningful Fourth of July.

Happy Independence Day from Booher Financial Solutions! 🇺🇸
