Humble ISD is proving that the best learning happens when children feel safe, where curiosity drives the lesson and play is the curriculum. Across 30 new playgrounds, River Pines Elementary School built themed outdoor spaces that transported students to rainforests, national parks, and more.

During National Safety Month, one piece of legislation deserves critical attention from K-12 procurement and facilities leaders: 𝗔𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘀𝗮'𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘄.

First enacted in New Jersey in 2019, Alyssa's Law requires schools to install silent panic alert systems that connect directly to first responders. Since then, multiple states have followed, with more actively considering similar mandates. Supplier evaluation usually starts and ends with cost and lead time.

But our Executive Vice President of Technology, Ashish Agarwal, thinks that's not enough.

In a recent Forbes Technology Council feature on supply chain factors that can derail your business strategy, Ashish highlighted a gap that quietly slows procurement down: supplier technology maturity.

When a buyer's systems can't communicate with a supplier's systems, decisions stall under the weight of fragmented data, manual workarounds, and limited visibility across the supply chain.

His insight: "Your supply chain is only as strong as its least-connected partner."
