Afternoon weather alert:

We are monitoring multiple rounds of extremely heavy rain and thunderstorms moving through the area this afternoon and evening. Some wireless sites and backhaul links may experience temporary “rain fade” during periods of extreme torrential rainfall.

Rain fade is a weather-related weakening of wireless signals caused by very dense rain between towers and customer equipment. Usually lasting just a few minutes during heavy rates.

Our network team is actively monitoring all core and tower locations. In most cases service automatically restores as storms weaken or pass through the area.

As always, the safety of our field staff comes first and tower work cannot be performed during lightning, high winds, or severe weather conditions.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as Indiana spring weather does its thing this afternoon.

Internet Communications Inc. (ICI), based in Franklin, Indiana, is a proud member of the NBBC and an active participant at the FD-IX.

Let’s be direct—the traditional bandwidth and colocation model is overpriced, inflexible, and long overdue for disruption.

Through our involvement with NBBC, ICI leverages collective scale to deliver colocation and bandwidth solutions within central Indiana data centers at a fraction of the cost typically charged by legacy carriers. We provide upstream access to multiple Tier 1 providers along with scalable 100Gb transit options—without the bloated pricing structures and restrictive contracts that have defined the industry for years.

Our presence at the FD-IX allows us to directly exchange traffic with regional and national networks. That means less reliance on expensive middlemen, lower latency, more efficient routing, and a better overall network experience for our partners and customers.

While larger providers continue to rely on outdated models and pass unnecessary costs downstream, ICI is focused on practical, efficient infrastructure—built to perform and priced to make sense.

If you’re a provider, municipality, or business tired of paying a premium for connectivity that should cost less, it may be time to look at a different approach.

Today we’re seeing another active spring system moving across Central Indiana, with temperatures climbing into the mid-60s to low 70s, increasing humidity, and gusty southwest winds throughout the day. Storm development is expected from mid-afternoon into the evening hours as a front pushes through the region.

The National Weather Service is monitoring conditions for:

* Damaging wind gusts (40–60+ mph)
* Heavy downpours and localized flooding
* Frequent lightning
* Small hail
* A low but possible risk of isolated tornadoes

Spring storm season is fully underway across Central Indiana.

🌩️ Storm Season & Outage Policy Update

When severe weather moves through Franklin, Shelby, Rush, Johnson, and surrounding counties, here’s how we operate:

🚧 Staff Safety Comes First

We do not dispatch tower crews during dangerous conditions — including lightning, heavy rain, or high winds. Climbing in unsafe weather isn’t worth risking someone’s life. Repairs will be scheduled as soon as conditions are safe.

📋 If You Experience an Outage

Before calling in, please walk through the following:

1️⃣ Verify the Storm Has Passed
Make sure the severe weather event has cleared your area.

2️⃣ Check for Local Power Outages
Even if your home has power, a nearby outage can impact a tower or relay site serving you.

3️⃣ Power Cycle Your Equipment
• Unplug router
• Unplug mesh units
• Unplug radio/POE injector
Wait 60 seconds, plug back in, and allow a few minutes to reconnect.

4️⃣ Do NOT Factory Reset
Unless you are comfortable reprogramming your own equipment, please avoid the reset button.

5️⃣ Stay Updated
Follow our page for real-time updates if a known outage is affecting multiple customers.

📞 Reporting an Outage

During Business Hours:
Call the office and leave one detailed voicemail if needed. Multiple calls and repeated voicemails slow response time and overwhelm the system.

After Hours:
Text our after-hours number so we can quickly determine if the issue is isolated or area-wide.

💡 Temporary Access Tip

If you urgently need connectivity, enable the hotspot feature on your smartphone until service is restored.
(And just a friendly reminder — telling us you run a business from home doesn’t move you ahead in line. We respond based on safety and system impact.)

🌬️ After High Winds

If you notice slower speeds or intermittent service following strong wind gusts, let us know. We can often check alignment remotely before scheduling a site visit.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through spring storm season safely and efficiently. Thank you for trusting us to keep Central Indiana connected.

Stay weather-aware this afternoon and evening — storm timing and intensity can change quickly this time of year. 🌩️

It’s Saturday, but a visit to one of the data centers was necessary as we prepare for upcoming equipment upgrades.

Did you know we can provide any business, service provider, or organization with colocation space, IX connectivity, and bandwidth to multiple carriers?

Through the NBBC and FD-IX in Indianapolis, we have access to a robust, carrier-neutral internet exchange with high-capacity peering and connectivity to dozens of networks—reducing latency, lowering transit costs, and improving overall performance.

We also are a member in NBBC.coop, collaborating with other providers to expand network reach, improve resiliency, and keep traffic local whenever possible.

We are located in both Netrality Data Centers and Lifeline Data Centers.

And here’s the reality—because we buy bandwidth in bulk, we can consistently undercut traditional providers. In many cases, we work alongside other operators to cut their costs in half—or more—while improving performance at the same time.
