This is a bittersweet post to make. After almost 21 years as a family business, we have made the decision that it is time to step away and allow my uncle the opportunity to retire (again). As of September 2022 Tri-County Industries has purchased Heffernan Hauling. Any questions or issues can be addressed by them at 724-748-4705.
If you are paid in full, Tri-County will be picking you up for the remainder of the year and you will receive new billing in 2023. If you have a balance in 2022, Tri-County will be sending out billing for the remainder of 2022. You can reach them at the above listed number for more definitive answers.
For anyone that wants to continue reading: Brief History of Heffernan Hauling
Mike officially purchased the business in 2002 from Tom Reisinger, Reisinger Hauling. My dad, Joe, wanted out of the shop that he and my uncle Mike worked in and they saw this as an opportunity to allow that to happen. My Uncle Mike and Aunt Linda owned the business for the duration and provided my dad the opportunity to enjoy his job until his passing in 2013. It was at this time I came on board to help Mike with the paperwork and customer service portion of the business. After my dad's passing we had several drivers including Stephen and Morgan Hartman, Justin Lowry, BJ Hurt, Mike Dunlap and Shawn Latchaw. Shawn was with us the longest next to my dad and one of these two are probably who you would recognize the most. Shawn had an employment opportunity that he wasn’t able to pass up and this led to my Uncle Mike, who has most recently been picking you up, coming out of retirement to keep the business going.
Mike and I had numerous discussions over the past year and we made the difficult decision to potentially look into selling the business. There were a few opportunities presented including the present outcome of selling to Tri-County Industries. This will allow Mike to enjoy retirement; he will be able to enjoy more time with his grandchildren, spend more time in the woods passing up the buck that “isn’t quite big enough”, and to spend time just enjoying things without the current daily stressors.
Again, THANK YOU! Thank you for trusting Heffernan Hauling, and thank you to my Uncle Mike Heffernan who provided an opportunity for my father and our family 20 years ago.
