Franklin Volunteer Fire Department We are a fully volunteer department providing fire and medical services in Franklin, CT. Franklin is a small town with a volunteer fire department.

We are located in New London County. Keep in touch with us to see what trainings and activities we are conducting as well as what we are planning. Make sure to visit our community activities and fundraisers. We are always in need of volunteers and no experience is necessary. We are selling reflective address markers that are made by our very own Explorer members. They will help us find you in an emergency if your driveway is well marked. Dry Hydrant Update
At the recent Board of Selectmen meeting, the Fire Department sought clarification regarding the maintenance, repair, and easement processing for our town’s non-functioning dry hydrants.
We are pleased to report that the Board of Selectmen has officially designated the Franklin Fire Marshal to take administrative ownership of the dry hydrant program moving forward. The town administration has committed to keeping the Fire Department updated.
The Fire Department would like to formally thank the Board of Selectmen and the Fire Marshal for stepping up to take on this administrative responsibility.
Securing emergency drafting water is a vital component of protecting our rural neighborhoods and maintaining the town’s ISO insurance ratings. The fire department will continue to adapt responses to maximize mutual-aid tanker shuttles for community safety

Come see us at the Franklin Franklin CT Lions Club Tuff Run this weekend. FVFD will be there with standby EMS, pump operations and concessions! We're excited to share an update on the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department's ambulance replacement project!

After nearly two years of planning, research, grant writing, and coordination, the department was awarded a $300,000 grant through the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).The department members were able to significantly reduce the cost of replacing our aging 25 year old ambulance and invest in reliable emergency medical equipment for our community.

The total cost of the new ambulance is approximately $457,000. In addition to the DECD grant, the remaining project costs are being funded through membership fundraising and ambulance service revenue earned by the department, not through additional taxation.

The new ambulance has been built and delivered. It is currently undergoing final preparations, including installation of emergency warning equipment, radios, graphics, and required inspections before being placed into service.

Replacing an ambulance is a major investment that helps ensure our EMTs and firefighters have safe, dependable equipment to provide emergency medical care for years to come.

We'll be sure to share more updates, including photos, as the ambulance gets closer to entering service!
