What does it take to win a denied claim? D.E.F.

Documentation.
Evidence.
Facts.

These 3 things will DEFinitely get you an approval.

Your insurance company and adjuster aren’t always immediately looking out for your best interest. When they dig their heels in, it can feel like that’s the end. There’s nothing else you can do.

That’s not how we do things at Royal Public Adjusting.

First inspection, they agree to minor damages. No payout.

Second inspection, they realize they missed some things. Adjusted estimated, minimal payout. Still denying the big picture.

They dig their heels in. “Our coverage decision remains unchanged”

What do you do??

You keep proving the loss.

That what we do for you.

Let’s go.

It’s fairly common to inspect a property and only look at the basics. I’ve seen it happen many times.

- You know the gutters are going to have damage.
- You know the roof vents are going to have damage
- You know the downspout are going to have damage

But, are you missing things that are important to proving the loss?

Always be sure you’re familiar with the materials used in constructing homes, because they are not always the same. You’re probably missing SO MUCH!

- Sidewall Flashing
- Base Flashing
- Metal Fascia
- Aluminum Corners
- Aluminum Window Wraps

Don’t leave the property half way inspected. Make sure you are documenting everything that is damaged, and even things that are not.

Claimed damage without supporting documentation is a long fight!

Collateral. You want to make sure that if you are claiming the home and the shingles were damaged by hail, you are able to support that claim.

It’s very important to look at every detail of the home, document every thing you see that is damaged, and notate its relation to the claim. If you find mechanical damages, DOCUMENT IT. Show the differences between what isn’t storm created damage and what is.

When submitting a claim for a date of loss that produced an estimated size hail stone at the property being claimed, make sure to support that with on site indicators. As you can see in the video below, we varying sizes of impact to support what the storm could have produced and compare it with other on site indicators such as spatter.

Every piece of material will absorb damage in different ways. The thickness of the metal as well as the underlying supporting material both change how a hail stone will cause damage and present itself during an inspection.

On this day: 12/22/2025

We have a 3rd inspection with Safeco, they assigned it to an engineer from Donan.

We also have a re-inspection granted by State Farm.

History of claim :
Heavy hail storm that caused damage to multiple areas of both properties. Both owners had vehicle damage caused by the hail storm, one of which was approved by the carrier for repairs. All metals were agreed to by the State Farm claim, and Safeco originally stated there was no damage caused by a storm from the date of loss.

Result of this days inspection?

Coverage was opened on all metals with Safeco and a potion of the shingles as a result of the hail storm. We are working with the carrier to get the roof replaced on multiple variables.

State Farm agreed to a full replacement of the roof, gutters, soft metals, downspouts, window wraps, and vehicle damage.

Don’t let the insurance company TELL you what the coverage decision is.

Make sure that that position is warranted and factual.

This homeowner had verified hail damage, but the carrier told them the damage occurred beyond the reporting period required by their policy.

We proved otherwise.

The insured got what is owed to them.

Proper coverage is a must. If you have any question that you arent getting the coverage you pay for, give me a call! I’ll look it over and get you taken care of.

This homeowner called me because their insurance company told them that they were only paying $4200 to repair the damages that they experienced from a busted water pipe.

I met them on site, did a full inspection, and investigated all the affected items surrounding the area that the water caused damage to.

Put an estimate together on the spot for what it would take to get fixed properly. My estimate came out to $16,556.

It doesn’t happen every time, but it is common to experience a lack in proper estimating from your insurance company. If you feel like you are unsure that your homeowners insurance is properly indemnifying you because of a loss that you filed a claim on, give me a call!

Now it’s time to go to work making sure their insurance pays what is owed for this homeowner!
