Business owners, here's a question worth thinking about:

How many potential customers are you losing before you even get a chance to talk to them?

I had a great conversation with Lisa Kempton, founder of Booked and Staffed, about something I see far too often in businesses.

We work so hard to get the phone to ring, but what happens after someone calls?

Is the person answering the phone simply taking a message, or are they helping turn that call into a paying customer?

And what happens when nobody answers?

We also talked about getting systems in place, using AI and automation wisely, and why business owners need to stop doing everything themselves.

One of my biggest takeaways: Growing your business isn't always about getting more leads. Sometimes it's about doing a better job with the opportunities you already have.

If you own a business, especially a home-service company, I think you'll find some valuable ideas in this conversation.

I'd love to know: Do you have someone answering your calls, or are you still trying to handle them yourself?

The person answering your phone shouldn't just be answering your phone.

They could be one of the most valuable people in your business.

That's one of the things I discussed with Lisa Kempton, founder of Booked and Staffed, in this episode of Giants Helping Giants.

Your CSR is often the FIRST experience a potential customer has with your company.

Are they simply taking a message?

Or are they helping move that person toward becoming a customer?

Lisa and I talk about:

✔️ Turning your back office into part of your sales process
✔️ Why every growing business needs SOPs
✔️ Getting all that knowledge OUT of the owner's head
✔️ What you should automate, eliminate, and delegate
✔️ Why your employees need clear processes
✔️ AI receptionist vs. a real person
✔️ Why home-service businesses can't afford unanswered calls
✔️ How AI + automation can save you time

One question from this conversation is worth asking yourself:

What is YOUR time worth?

If you're doing $15–$20/hour tasks all day, who's doing the work that actually grows your business?

Then tell me:

What's one task you know you should stop doing yourself?

Want to know if your business is really showing up on Google?

Stop searching for your business name.

I see business owners do this all the time.

They type their company name into Google.

There it is!

Website.
Google Business Profile.
Reviews.
Photos.

Everything looks great.

But there’s a problem.

The people you need to reach may not know your business name yet.

They're searching for things like:

“HVAC repair near me”

“auto body shop near me”

“landscape curbing in my area”

“best plumber near me”

THAT is where you need to know how your business performs.

Because if your competitors consistently appear when customers search for the service — and you only appear when someone searches for your name — you're mostly visible to people who already know you.

Try this today:

Open an incognito/private browser window and search for the service you most want to sell + your city.

Don't include your company name.

Who shows up?

And more importantly...

Do you?

If you want to know more about how your business is showing up online, comment REPORT or send me a message. I can run a visibility report and show you what I find.

I’ve been researching a lot of local businesses lately, and I keep seeing the same thing.

The business owner has a website. It looks pretty good. Their company is legitimate. They do good work.

So they assume their online presence is fine.

But then I look at what a potential customer actually sees when they search for the services that business provides.

Completely different story.

They’re barely showing up.

Competitors have stronger Google visibility.

Their Google Business Profile isn’t doing nearly as much as it could.

There are gaps in their reviews, local rankings, website SEO or overall online presence.

And now there’s another question business owners need to be asking:

Does AI know enough about my business to recommend me?

Having a website and being findable are two very different things.

Don’t just Google the name of your business. Of course Google knows who you are when someone already knows your name.

Search the way a customer who has NEVER heard of you would search.

“AC repair near me.”
“Collision repair in Wake Forest.”
“Landscape curbing near me.”

Then see who Google recommends.

Those are the searches that matter.

If you’re curious about what customers are actually seeing when they search for what you do, I can run a visibility report on your business.

Comment REPORT or message me and I’ll take a look.

Quick question…

When was the last time YOU searched Google…

…and when was the last time you just asked AI?

Exactly.

Your customers are doing the same thing.

They’re not digging through websites anymore.

They’re asking:
“Who should I call?”

And trusting the answer.

If your business isn’t part of that answer…

You don’t exist to them.

That’s the shift that’s happening right now.

Not next year.

Right now.

Most local businesses are fighting for visibility…
but missing one of the simplest ways to show up on Google.

In this episode, I sat down with Brian Gregory and we talked about how press releases can actually help you get on page one—and stay there.

This isn’t old-school PR.
This is a strategy that helps you:
âś” Get found in search
âś” Build authority
âś” Create backlinks that boost SEO

If you’ve been wondering why competitors are showing up ahead of you… this might be the missing piece.
