Three federal grants. One deadline. A lot of funding on the table.

🔹 AFG — Assistance to Firefighters Grant
Funding for apparatus, equipment, PPE, training, and health & wellness programs. About $291.6M available across roughly 1,800 awards nationwide.

🔹 SAFER — Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response
Funding to hire new firefighters, convert part-time roles to full-time, and recruit and retain volunteers. $324M available across 190 awards.

🔹 FP&S — Fire Prevention & Safety
Funding for community risk reduction, public fire education, code enforcement, and firefighter safety research. $32.4M available, with awards up to $1.5M each.

I see this happen all the time.

Departments wait until a federal grant opens… only to realize their SAM registration expired, or they never had one in the first place.

Right now is the calm before the storm.

Take 10 minutes this week to:
• Confirm your UEI is active
• Log into SAM.gov
• Check your expiration date

Texas Fire & EMS friends, heads up on a great funding opportunity if you’re in the LCRA service area.

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) Community Development Partnership Program is currently accepting applications for capital and life-safety equipment for volunteer fire departments and emergency responders located within their electric, water, or transmission territory.

This program prioritizes firefighter safety, disaster readiness, and long-life equipment with a useful life of 10+ years.

Typical awards range from $15,000–$50,000, with some cycles allowing up to $100,000. Requests over $5,000 require a 20% local match. Applications are accepted twice a year, and the next deadline is January 31.

Based on recent awards, this is an excellent fit for:
• SCBA replacement or expansion
• Air cylinders
• Breathing air compressors
• Cascade / refill stations
• Breathing air infrastructure and life-safety systems
