🌈 What did we learn from our LGBTQI+ Listening Sessions? 🏠

The feedback we collected highlights both the strengths of recovery residences and the challenges LGBTQI+ individuals continue to face in recovery housing.

πŸ’™ Key findings:
βœ”οΈ 100% cited chosen family and peer support as critical to recovery.
βœ”οΈ 88% felt staff were adequately trained and supportive.
βœ”οΈ 70% felt comfortable disclosing their identity.

⚠️ Challenges identified:
β–ͺ️ 75% reported experiencing discrimination or microaggressions.
β–ͺ️ Significant gaps remain in LGBTQI+-specific resources and services.
β–ͺ️ Wait times for LGBTQI+-specific supports ranged from 4–7 months.
β–ͺ️ Concerns around gendered spaces, inconsistent rules, and cultural stigma were also discussed.

The most common themes included chosen family, pronoun respect, staff competency, discrimination, gender-inclusive spaces, and access to resources.

These findings underscore the importance of LGBTQI+-specific recovery residences. While many participants shared positive experiences, the data shows a clear need for recovery environments intentionally designed to provide affirming support, culturally responsive services, and a true sense of belonging. Everyone deserves a recovery home where they feel safe, respected, and supported.

πŸŽ‰ It’s happening β€” the Delaware Recovery Coach Program is coming! πŸŽ‰

FSARR is excited to announce the launch of the Delaware Recovery Coach Program, a new pilot initiative in partnership with Dolan Research International. This program will support a pilot cohort of peer support professionals and strengthen Delaware’s recovery workforce from the ground up.

Through this initiative, we will:
β€’ Build Workforce Competence
Deliver targeted, applied training to build CPRS-aligned knowledge, recovery coaching skills, and exam readiness.

β€’ Advance Equity & Inclusion
Equip peers to provide culturally responsive, recovery-affirming support to individuals across diverse communities and pathways.

β€’ Support Professional Advancement
Offer CE-eligible training aligned with state credentialing requirements and professional standards.

β€’ Ensure Measurable Impact
Use a structured evaluation framework to assess knowledge gains, implementation readiness, and longer-term outcomes.

β€’ Establish Sustainability
Train FSARR staff in the Dolan Recovery Coach Pathway model to support future cohorts and ongoing workforce development.

This program represents a major step forward in strengthening peer support, investing in the workforce, and expanding access to high-quality recovery services across Delaware.

πŸ“£ More details on cohort timelines and participation coming soon β€” stay tuned!
