Cherokee Pass Fire Protection District

Cherokee Pass Fire Protection District The Cherokee Pass Fire Protection District is an all volunteer fire department that offers fire protection and rescue services in rural Madison County.

The Cherokee Pass Volunteer Fire Department was organized in the late 1950's to early 1960's. Our department consists of 25 volunteer personnel and is governed by a board of trustees. Our jurisdiction consists of approximately 375 square miles, including approximately 80,000 acres of Federal land. This includes residential properties, farm lands, and recreational areas. The Cherokee Pass Fire Depa

rtment maintains three fire stations located in Cherokee Pass, just east of Fredericktown, and Roselle. We also maintain three pumper trucks, three tanker trucks, two brush trucks, a rescue truck, and a water shuttling vehicle. We do house extrication equipment at each firehouse. We primarily haul and shuttle our own water for fire suppression as fire hydrants are not available throughout most of our covered area. Our department is not supported by a tax base and does not receive any routine federal or state monies. Our primary operating funds is derived from memberships purchased by property owners within our jurisdiction.

🚨 Tornado Siren Test Today at 11:00 AM 🚨

Madison County residents, this is a reminder that the outdoor warning sirens will be tested today at 11:00 AM.

This is only a test β€” there is no emergency. The purpose is to ensure the system is working properly and ready when it’s needed most.

πŸ‘‰ If you hear the sirens at that time, there is no need to take action.

⚠️ Important Reminder: Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outside. Always have multiple ways to receive warnings, including weather apps, NOAA weather radios, and local alerts.

If there is severe weather in the area at the time of the test, it will be postponed.

Stay safe and stay prepared, Madison County! πŸŒͺ️

Strong and gusty winds combined with low relative humidity will lead to conditions which may make fires unpredictable and difficult to control on Wednesday afternoon. Use caution with open flames and when discarding ci******es. Burning by anyone but trained professionals is not recommended.
