We had a customer call and ask if we could shut their treatment feed off for a month or so.

Why?

They needed to send in a sludge sample—and there wasn’t enough accumulated sludge on the bottom of the lagoon to get a decent sample.

That may be one of our favorite customer calls.

Sludge doesn’t just sit quietly on the bottom. It takes up valuable treatment capacity—capacity a community may eventually need for new homes, new businesses or future growth.

Reducing sludge can help extend the useful capacity of an existing lagoon and delay the day when a community is forced to consider dredging, expansion or another major capital expenditure.

No community wants to find itself caught between lost lagoon capacity and a project its residents cannot afford.

Sometimes the best evidence that a treatment program is working is what you can’t find on the bottom.
