This past Thursday, A-shift crews had the pleasure of having Mayor Joey Spellerberg at the fire station for a few hours. We are extremely thankful for his leadership and willingness to step into the shoes of our firefighters and get a small glimpse of what we do each day.

Don't forget to vote Dave Wordekemper for state legislature next Tuesday during the primary election here in District 15!

The future of Nebraska is at stake. Only Dave Wordekemper has the experience, strength, and courage to lead the next generation to success. Dave "Woody" Wordekemper is a Conservative Republican who is tired of politicians talking about problems and never offering common sense solutions. Woody is prepared to lead on day one to put out the fire of runaway government spending and out of control property taxes.

This past Thursday, members of C shift along with Fremont Police and Dodge County Sheriff's Office, sported their crazy socks for World Down Syndrome Day. Every year on March 21st, people across the country dawn their craziest, mismatched socks to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.

This day is especially important to members of Local 1015. Pictured in the middle is C shift Lieutenant Rick Schutt and his son Hudson. Hudson was born in July of 2022 and has quickly become everyone's favorite visitor at the station. Local 1015 is proud to support World Down Syndrome Day this year and every year 🧦 🧦

Last week, Fremont Nebraska Firefighters had a 4 legged visitor stop by the station. "Kona" is a 9 week old pure bread Dalmatian, and is an adorable new companion for one of our firefighters and his family. Looks like she felt right at home at the fire station!

Have you ever wondered why Dalmatians are synonymous with the fire service? During the era of horse-drawn fire apparatus, Dalmatians would run alongside the horses to make sure they weren’t spooked or slowed down by pedestrians in the road. It has been said that they acted as β€œsirens,” barking to alert pedestrians that the fire brigade was en route. They were used to calm the horses on scene, as well as acting as guard dogs when the horses were back at the fire station πŸš’ 🐾

Congratulations to Firefighter/EMT Riley McCoy and Firefighter/EMT Brian Carpenter on completing their paramedic course. All your hard work and long hours in class and studying have paid off. Good luck on the national registry exam!

Thinking about applying to be a firefighter in Fremont? These two gentleman are a great example of the opportunities that await. They were both hired as firefighter/EMTs, and will soon be certified paramedics. We are grateful for the paramedicine program at MCC, which allows our firefighters to still work while going to school and obtaining their license in the process. Continue to watch this page for job opportunities. A posting to apply for one of the 6 new firefighter positions will be coming soon!

πŸš’ Fremont Fire Department Firefighter/EMT’s Riley McCoy (left) and Brian Carpenter (right) pictured with Fire Chief Todd Bernt (middle) have completed the Paramedicine Program through Metropolitan Community College (Nebraska) .

The paramedicine program was a year long journey that included classroom time and clinical time at various hospitals as well as ride time on the ambulance working with a licensed paramedic. Having received their certificates, the next step is the National Registry test to receive their state license to practice as a paramedic.

Congratulations πŸ₯³on your hard work to receive this certificate and best of luck passing the National Registry test! πŸ€

Today, as well as every day, we honor those who have served our great country.

Over the last year, Local 1015 has added multiple impactful members. Today we celebrate and honor two of them in particular.

Firefighter/Paramedic Nathan Hubbard. Nathan served in the United States Marine Corps for 5 years.

Firefighter/Paramedic Tyler Mutlu. Tyler is currently serving in the Air National Guard, and has done so for the last 8 years.

We thank these gentleman for the sacrifices they have made, and continue to make, for all of us here at home. On behalf of Fremont Firefighters Local 1015, Happy Veteran's Day πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
