I can't take credit as it is AI. But, here is our Quehanna Anthem. We are a family of great folks with everyone having their own personality they bring to our table. Enjoy our little tune about each one of our great guides.

I just created my own song on Songer – Quehanna Anthem

Late season was a success. We had two hunters, a zone 9 cow tag and a zone 14 bull tag. The zone 9 late season cow tag is what got Liz and I into becoming owners of Quehanna Outfitters (long story for another time) So, it was only fitting that I guide that hunter this year. It proved fruitful the first morning. On the way into the zone and area we planned to hunt, we glassed an area real quick, then saw a few bulls along the road that we took a few pictures of (added for your viewing pleasure). When we got to our spot we came up with a plan of attack having to pay attention to our surroundings. If you know anything about zone 9 you know that making a safe shot is a big part of it. Once we got into position Mike Chilek was able to fill his tag marking his first successful elk hunt. Zone 14 posed a few more obstacles for our bull hunter. The ice made it tough as well as his physical condition. Our guide Steve Stephen E Shuster was successful at getting him on bulls several times, but as fate would have it, he was unable to make an ethical shot. That is always a tough pill to swallow, but as they say, that is why they call it hunting. That is the very first bull tag that Quehanna Outfitters has left unfilled! All in all we are excited about getting the first year with new ownership under our belts. Here's to many more successful hunts in 2026!!

2025 Pennsylvania Elk hunt in Zone 14

Congratulations to Frank Geck for harvesting an 8x6 Pennsylvania Bull Elk in Zone 14 on opening day. Frank drew a regular season bull elk tag for zone 14 and began his search for an outfitter. As recommended, Frank did a thorough due diligence process in selecting his outfitter and guide. We connected thanks to a mutual friend and hit it off from our first conversation. Frank had a great list of questions and expectations then selected Quehanna Outfitters for his epic hunt. During Frank’s investigation process I mentioned the importance of spending time in Zone 14 to get an understanding of the terrain and expectations. I offered Frank the opportunity to stay at my cabin in zone 14 and Frank joined me there in mid-September to scout and put up trail cameras. At this time, we saw a few nice bulls and the last day I called in a nice bull to 50 yards.

The trip prepared Frank to better understand the terrain and what to expect with his hunt. From the moment Frank drew the tag he began his preparation that included working out (continued his rehabilitation on his knee replacement), and making a list of what he needed for the adventure.
Prior to Frank’s hunt started I had located several outstanding bulls in zone 14. Every year is unique and 2025 was no different with a drought and abundance of acorns the bulls had moved from their normal habitat food plots to wooded areas. One other difference in 2025 the rut was still in full swing with several hot cows drawing the bulls in.
When scouting the day prior to Frank’s hunt we had located one of our targeted bulls and secured permission to access the area. The targeted bull was in zone 14 and unfortunately crossing over to zone 10 every other day which made our hunt more challenging.
On opening day the plan was clear we would set up in the pines above where our targeted bull and his cows were feeding.

Energy and excitement filled the air as opening day had finally arrived.
We arrived at our opening day location to discover that the targeted bull and his cows had moved back into Zone 10 which was 100 yards from our location. Our plan was then clear that we needed to call the bull and his cows into the pines in zone 14. As I started to bugle call and cow call a bull answered right away. We looked into the pines below to see a bull heading our way. Unfortunately, it was not the bull we had originally spotted. . Frank decided to take the nice bull with a perfect shot, well done Frank. There were two more bulls coming to the call unfortunately our targeted bull stayed in zone 10 with his cows. While field dressing the bull the two others bulls which were coming to the call came within 30 yards!
Congratulations once again to Frank for all his preparation and planning resulting in harvesting a fantastic Pennsylvania Bull. Thanks goes out to the incredible Quehanna Outfitters team well done!

2025 general elk season is a wrap! Thanks to our hunters who trusted us, our guides who busted their humps, our cooks who kept us fed and most of all the property owners who were gracious enough to grant us permission to either hunt or cross their property. We still maintain 100% success rate on bulls and above average on cows.

The only PA elk outfitter with their own horsepower! If you haven't given thought as to how you will get your trophy out of the woods, you should. Depending on location and terrain, we can either quarter and pack out your elk or drag it out in a sled. No need for multiple trips carrying that heavy load yourself.
