Another fire. Another warning. Another reminder that the current approach is failing.
Today, a member of the Blackstone Merchants Association saw a fire behind Quality Furniture and Home. He acted immediately, helped contain the situation, and contacted the Fire Department before the damage became even worse.
At this point, this is not about people "staying warm." It is about public safety, protecting lives, protecting businesses, and preventing the next tragedy.
When encampments are allowed to remain in high-risk areas, the consequences are predictable: fires, crime, health hazards, property damage, and businesses struggling to survive.
Safe Zones provide a real solution.
They move people out of dangerous conditions and connect them with shelter, mental health services, addiction treatment, sanitation, and support, while protecting neighborhoods, schools, parks, and businesses.
Compassion and accountability can exist together.
Safety and prosperity start with Safe Zones.
Because every resident deserves to feel safe, every business deserves the opportunity to thrive, and every person deserves a path toward a better future.

The establishment is comfortable with the status quo because it benefits from it. But Fresno residents are paying the price through rising costs, declining safety, homelessness, neglected roads, and policies that continue to fail.
This election is not about Republicans or Democrats.

Five years ago, Fresno was promised solutions. Today, ask yourself a simple question:
Are you better off or worse off than you were five years ago?
Look around.
• More homelessness on our streets.
• Roads in worse condition.
• Higher utility bills.
• Less affordability.
• Growing concerns about safety.
• Businesses struggling to prosper.
History teaches us an important lesson: when we continue voting for the same policies and the same political establishment, we should not be surprised when we get the same results.
"He who does not remember his history is doomed to live it again... at a heavier price. There is no future for societies without memory."
This election is not about Republicans or Democrats.

For too long, Blackstone business owners, employees, customers, and residents have been paying the price for failed policies.
Business owners deserve better.
Employees deserve better.

I've spent thousands of hours of my own time and resources organizing merchants, working with law enforcement, code enforcement, and city officials, and advocating for practical solutions that protect our businesses and neighborhoods.
The question is simple:
How many more employees must quit?
How many more businesses must suffer?
How many more customers must stay away?

Small Businesses Create Jobs. Safe Neighborhoods Create Customers.
For businesses to thrive, we must first solve the homeless encampment crisis.
No business can succeed when owners have to convince customers that it's safe to visit, shop, dine, or bring their families to the area. Every customer who stays away because of safety concerns is a lost opportunity for local workers, local families, and our local economy.
Small businesses are the backbone of Fresno. They create jobs, support community programs, sponsor youth sports, and keep our neighborhoods strong. But they cannot prosper when sidewalks, parking lots, and storefronts are overwhelmed by encampments.
This is not about blaming anyone. It's about finding real solutions that help both residents and those experiencing homelessness. Leaving people on the streets is not compassionate, and expecting businesses and neighborhoods to absorb the consequences is not sustainable.
If we want prosperity, we need safety.
If we want investment, we need accountability.
If we want thriving businesses, we need real solutions.
It's time to put People Before Politics.
