On the cross, Jesus gave us His mother. Today, on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, we are reminded of this by her tender words to St. Juan Diego: “Am I not your Mother?” As our Blessed Mother, she has never failed to guide her children to Jesus.

Today we celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, also known as the Virgin of Guadalupe.
I was once watching a television interview of Carlos Santana and they were discussing his spirituality and meditation. He shared a story about how he would pray and ask the Virgin Guadalupe to intercede on his behalf. He said while he was having a conversation with her... - suddenly the interviewer interrupted and said "Wait, you mean to say that you where having a conversation with the Virgin Guadalupe?" And Carlos said "Yes!"
And he explained "Too often when we pray, we do all the talking. We ask for healing, forgiveness, patience, understanding, or help with something that we are struggling with. But, how often do we listen back? Have you ever mediated and waited for an answer? Try it the next time you pray and see what happens."
So, I gave it a try. Why not give it a try yourself?
Go to a quiet room and silence yourself. Once you feel a sense of peacefulness start your prayer, whatever it might be...then wait. Filter out all the noise. It may take awhile. Block out all distractions. Be still, calm, and quiet to the point where you can hear your own breathing and maybe your heart beating. Again, it may take awhile. Take a deep breath and don't give up...and just meditate and wait for a response.
It might be just one word...one word in a very clear voice that seemed to come from right near your ear.
Happy Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe!
