QUICK TIP: TESTING YOUR RATE CONTROLLER

Here's a common question we get:

"Can I test my rate controller without actually applying ammonia?"

Not fully - since rate control depends on real product flow, you can't verify true accuracy without it. But you CAN check the two key pieces that make it work:

✔ Use your manual control switch to confirm your control valve (and any on/off electric valves) open and close properly
✔ Drive your tractor and applicator around the yard or a nearby field to make sure your controller is reading speed correctly

If both check out, you can feel confident your valves and speed input are working - before you ever attach a tank.

A simple test now can save you headaches once you're in the field this fall.

Fall application season will be here before you know it and a little prep now can save you from costly downtime later. Before you head to the field, walk through these key areas on your toolbar:

✔ Frame & Hardware – Check for cracks, worn welds, and loose bolts; grease pivot points
✔ NH3 Delivery System – Inspect hoses for wear and Dating
✔ Metering & Distribution – Check (Raven) Flow Meter and Valves for operation
✔ Row Units & Knives – Look for wear on shanks, knives, and gauge wheels
✔ Electrical & Controls – Test wiring, sensors, (Raven & Precision NH3 systems)
✔ Safety Equipment – Confirm breakaway Valves and shutoffs are in working order
✔ Tires & Hydraulics – Check tire condition and hydraulic hoses before transport

A few hours of inspection now means more time running and less time in the shop this fall.
