Today is International Ataxia Awareness Day! 🧠

Ataxia is a group of rare neurodegenerative diseases of the cerebellum, which controls coordinated motor movements and balance. According to the American Brain Foundation, 15 to 20 thousand people in the U.S. have inherited types of ataxia, and tens of thousands more have recessive, sporadic, or other forms of ataxia.

Speech and swallowing therapy can be beneficial to individuals with ataxia in managing symptoms like difficulty speaking, eating, or swallowing. Autumn Oak is proud to offer these options for patients with ataxia to help them achieve greater independence and confidence!
