A shift most readiness programs have not caught up to yet.

For years, finding a software vulnerability took real time and skill. Discover, triage, patch, explain. That was the rhythm. Today an AI model can discover and weaponize a flaw in seconds, continuously, around the clock.

Here is the catch. The finding got faster. The fixing did not. Triage, documentation, patching, and governance still move at human speed, and that gap is exactly where risk now piles up.

The takeaway is simple but uncomfortable: readiness can no longer be an annual checkbox. It has to become an operating rhythm.

AI didn't just change the threat landscape. It changed who can be targeted, how convincingly, and at what scale.
