🚒 Station Tour: Little Imaginations Early Learning Center 🚒

Today we welcomed some special visitors from Little Imaginations Early Learning Center to Station 31!

The students learned important fire safety lessons, including:
🔥 The importance of working smoke detectors
🔥 Stop, Drop, and Roll (while covering your face)
🔥 Stay Low and Go during a fire
🔥 Never hide from firefighters—we are your friends and are here to help!

The kids got hands-on experience exploring our fire engine and ambulance, spraying a fire hose, and meeting firefighters in full protective gear so they know what we look and sound like during an emergency.

Thank you to Little Imaginations for spending part of your day with us. We had a blast showing these future firefighters around the station!

🧨Incident Alert🧨

On 6/3 at 5:11 PM, LVFD was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the area of S Mesa Street and S Mulberry Street. Chief 32, Truck 31, Ambulance 31, Engine 32, and Fruita Police Department responded.

Upon arrival, crews found that an individual had been setting off fireworks in their driveway, which ignited dry vegetation in the yard. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire before it could spread to the residence or any neighboring structures.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Great job by Green Crew for another quick response and for preventing what could have become a much larger incident.

As we head into fire season, please remember that dry grass and weeds can ignite very easily. We never thought we’d have to say this, but please do not set off fireworks in your driveway next to your house—or your neighbor’s house—especially when dry fuels are present.

Stay safe and help us keep our community fire-free.

According to the homeowner, the fire originated in a burn barrel located in the front yard. The fire spread and destroyed a small shed along with several other items on the property.

Firefighters quickly completed extinguishment and ensured the fire was fully out. No injuries were reported.

Great job by Green Crew for the quick response and thank you to the homeowners for their efforts prior to our arrival.

On 5/28 at 10:32 PM, LVFD was dispatched to the area of I-70 MM 6 for a single-vehicle crash. Ambulance 32 and Engine 31 responded. Upon arrival, crews found the occupant had self-extricated from the vehicle. The patient was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

While Engine 31 was positioned to block a lane and provide a safe work area for ambulance crews and law enforcement, the apparatus was nearly struck multiple times by passing vehicles.

Please slow down AND move over when approaching emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Those lights are there to protect first responders, law enforcement officers, tow operators, and the people involved in the incident.

Every firefighter and law enforcement officer on scene has a family waiting for them at home, too. A few extra seconds of caution can save a life.❤️
