Today marked the official kickoff of Grand Rounds, a new pitch competition and startup accelerator program hosted by the Orange County / Inland Empire Small Business Development Center LaunchPad SBDC. This inaugural cohort includes twelve of Southern California’s most promising up-and-coming medtech ventures.

Over the next several weeks, they will meet one-on-one with specialist advisors in the medical technology field to develop their pitch, meet with investors and explore fundraising challenges, identify new potential target markets, and so much more. The program will conclude with a live pitch event featuring this cohort’s top five companies competing for $40,000 in cash prizes from Octane OC.

At today’s event, participants had the opportunity to meet their fellow founders. LaunchPad SBDC Associate Director Shaun Sanders noted that this is an extremely elite class of entrepreneurs and showcases the depth of talent and new ideas being fostered in the Southern California medtech ecosystem.

The OCIE SBDC is proud to be at the forefront of bringing these brilliant startups to reaching their next big step. We cannot wait to see what they will achieve!

With the help of the Orange County/Inland Empire SBDC Network, business owners My and Khoi brought their restaurant, Ǎn, to life in the City of Fountain Valley. Alongside OCIE SBDC Consultant Hang Harper, they worked on developing a business plan, creating financial projections, and determining menu pricing.

Yesterday, the OCIE SBDC Network partnered with to host a business-focused Small Business Summit designed to help entrepreneurs strengthen operations, improve financial decision-making, and plan for sustainable growth.

Through expert-led breakout sessions covering funding and cash flow strategies, digital marketing, AI best practices, and operational efficiency, attendees gained practical tools and insights to help move their businesses forward with confidence.

The event also connected business owners with valuable local, state, and federal resources through a collaborative working lunch and resource program featuring trusted vendors and SBDC support partners.
