I photographed Ben’s older brother’s bar mitzvah two years ago and was really glad to get to work with his family again. It always surprises me kids grow in a couple of years - Ben was a little kid the last time I saw him and last weekend he was a young man.

A lot of times I'm not allowed to post images of events I photograph because of contracts with my clients but when possible, I'm going to start sharing more of them. I shot this event last week.

A couple of weeks ago I was hired by an event company in NYC to photograph their client's conference in DC at the Kennedy Center. I'd never heard of the organization before; turns out their purpose is pretty fascinating:

Max's bar mitzvah is up on the blog (a different Max) :)

I'm behind posting about Max's bar mitzvah because of Thanksgiving. I photographed the Blacksten family on November 18. It had been about a year and a half since I'd seen Deborah and her husband, John, but they were just as I remembered: sweet, good-humored and laid back.

I remember the first time I had a client book me without meeting me first; it felt a little bit awkward to show up at their synagogue portrait session knowing next to nothing about them. Although it happens more and more frequently these days, I still feel that same pull of anxiety beforehand.

Sarah's bat mitzvah last weekend was a nice change of pace - I've never had a session at Temple Oheb Shalom in Baltimore before and the sanctuary was beautiful. It was nice to get the chance to flex some creative muscles.
