Visited my oldest son at college this weekend. As we toured the Paul "Bear" Bryant Museum this quote stood out to me. It's the embodiment of Floor 3 Leadership.

This is my grandfather, Dean Richards around the time he led the foodbank in Johnstown, PA in the 1980s. "Gramps" taught our family a lot of lessons on servant leadership which embodies so much of getting your organization to "Floor 3".

We lost him 26 years ago but I hand picked a few of his best lessons for my book, The Floor 3 Plan, which I'm happy to share with all of you because that means his ideas continue to inspire others.

Tom Brady retired this past week. Again. Love him or hate him, the seven-time Super Bowl Champion has an extensive career resume that is impossible to beat. So why was everyone laughing at him? Instead of starting the countdown clock to his Hall of Fame induction, he was cannon fodder for late night comedians and followers on social media had more laugh reactions than likes. And why was the past season such a challenging one for the greatest of all time?

Part of the answer may lie in one of the concepts of the Floor 3 Plan called the Fire Escape. One of the rules of the Fire Escape is that you cannot use it to return to Floor 3- a place of triumph and success. To return there, you have to go back through the front door and work your way up- developing connections with your team and going back through the rituals that got you there in the first place.
