Ryan is Retiring!?! Is this the end of Maverick Metalworks?
Hey everyone! I am ready to drop a bomb on you all, so I hope that you are ready!
Over the past few months, My wife and I have been putting a great deal of thought into what we want out of the next ten years. What we want for us. What we want for our daughters. What we want for our friends and family.
In the Six years that we have owned and operated Maverick Metalworks, we have accomplished more then we ever thought possible, and built this Monumental Customer Base that has stood behind us and built up the Empire that is Maverick Metalworks. We have built a large variety of projects, from Flat Beds to full on Rock Crawlers, Custom Trailers to Massive Gates, and everything in between. You, our beloved audience, has promoted our brand and Recommended us with a tremendous uproar every time anyone even hints that they need a Welder, a Fabricator, or an Off-Road shop.
At times, it has been overwhelming, but we have done our very best to keep up with every job, making sure that large projects and small alike received the same great attention of detail that Maverick is known for. In this short time, we grew to 8 full time employees at our peak, and somehow the work load never slowed down. Last year, I personally spent 90-100 hours each week pushing as hard as I could to keep up with deadlines and make sure every customer was satisfied. We restructured this year and brought that down (most weeks) to about 60-70 hours, but at the end of the day I will never be able to not put the customers needs ahead of my own and I am really bad at saying no (what can I say, I enjoy being able to play the hero card and make things work for someone in their time of need). This comes with great satisfaction, but it also comes with great sacrifice. It comes with many nights without seeing my wife and kids. It comes with weekends helping customers and answering questions. It comes with a lack of time to work on our own long neglected projects.
With my families future in mind, we have made the decision to go into Retirement! Now, what exactly does that mean? It doesn't mean that I won't work at all, and I'll spend my days on the beach sipping Mojito's 𤣠It means that I will not have the obligation and responibilies that come with shop ownership, and I will not be a slave to the never-ending grind.
We are in the process of building a 40' x 50' shop in our back yard at our house, and we will be moving ALL of our fabrication equipment over to still give me the creative freedoms to build anything and everything my heart desires; Just instead of building for customers, we will be building for ourselves! Finishing the Cherokee to go out and beat the brakes off on the trails. Building a Kid's Crawler mini tube chassis for the girls to learn to off-road in. Building a Crawler Hauler camper trailer to haul the Jeep and a camper for traveling. Hell one day I want to build a Rat Rod jeep on 40's!
Part of that next chapter will involve a Youtube Channel (link in comments) that we will take you along the journey. Its been a dream of mine to document everything as we grow, and its finally time to do so. We will start by bringing you along as we build our shop from scratch, built entirely by us with our own hands and tools. It will be called the "build a shop series".
Please take some time to watch this video about the how, the why, and the next chapter of our lives!
