We do not have the whole story yet, but the shooter did have on an ankle monitor from another arrest at the time of the shooting. I wish there was some magic ball I could use to give everyone a warning of a shooter like this. I train people to be aware of the behavioral actions of shooters, but even I can not get them all before they shoot. The best you can do is get some training, be aware of the people around you and be ready to move if shooting starts. Historically, movement is your best defense, it is just harder to hit a moving target. Unfortunately most of us will just freeze in place for a few seconds after a shooting starts, making us an easy target. Plan to move, if just in your head, look for a way out, get so you do it all the time, even if the plan goes bad, at least you have a plan and hopefully will be moving, those critical first few seconds are often the difference between life and death. So right now plan your move, make it real in your mind, it may just save your life,

This is a short course on detecting spycam's and other curvallance equipment, for less than 15$s you get a certificated course developed by one of the best in the Counter Espionage Business. Other courses are available at reasonable rates. I have not taken the cousre but I know the developer very well, it will be well worth the cost. and having a certificate on this skill will give any EP type or PI a boost in their CV. A deal was made apparently on letting Texas buy some of the Trump wall from the Federal Government. It is truly a very effective wall, that as each segment is completed does provide a barrier to both illegal immigration and illegal Drugs. Does it stop them 100%, no but neither did the Wall between the West Bank and Israel, But like that wall, this stops or puts a barrier to even small groups coming over the wall. This is the new colonization of the world and China has made inroads all over the world. What many do not realize is that they are very active here in the USA.. and in fact right here in the Rio Grande Valley.. I was first approached to lend my support to getting them into local Government departments and agencies. If you look at most of the corruption cases the FBI has made in the Valley, they almost all point to Chinese involvement, although you have to look hard and deep to find Them. The first one I found was the original company that approached me through a local businessman here in Mission Texas. I was approached to help a local firm sell LED lighting systems to local Governments. I made a few introductions for a friend, but no money passed hands. Local Governments had rules about doing long term contracts for lighting. This was the loophole that China was trying to exploit. But they learned quickly and got a larger firm called ASI to front the systems. This provided just enough distance from China to get the deals through, that and bribing local city council members as well as members of local school districts and even water districts. These deals have resulted in a lot of corruption trials and convictions around the valley. Another area that China is working scams on are Water Meters and Electric meters. But the hidden cost of the China involvement is still not made it to most of the court cases. The LED lighting for instance was controlled by a system that was imbedded in the lights, and hooked up to the local Data Grid. This gave them usage data, which was sent to China for helping them to keep the lights as efficient as possible. Sounds great yes, but it also gave Chin the router passwords for the City and the School Districts, and the water districts, once China has these passwords they have virtually unlimited access to all the data flowing through the routers. At his point they can also control different parts of you Cities operations. Now add the China made Water meters and the Chinese made electric meters. And you could even shut down basic systems from China, like water systems even electrical systems. I found these quickly in the Rio Grande Valley, but I am sure they are doing the same things to Cities all over the USA. Now, how do we stop it.

This oversite is dearly needed. The SBA is lousy at administering grant money. They lose billions every year to bad contracts, and most go to what ever political side in in power at the time. On the other side, these grants can make or break a small business, so it is very important to all of us that they are continued. I think the key is to keep monitoring the Grants through their life cycle. And simple audits by the SBA can clean a lot of this up. A first year book keeper could see when the contracts start to very away from the straight an narrow. Most SBA clients have never had these types of funds before and tend to go a bit wild with them. There is also a group of scammers that follow these grants and try and take advantage of the SBA can keep an eye on this fairly easy.

This is a very good thing, and we all applaud the brave State Police that did this, now comes the battel for this guys position, which will lead to a very bloody weekend. But this is the price you pay for letting the criminals get in such control. As I first said when I came to the valley some twenty plus years ago, when the criminals are this intrenched, it will be very bloody to wrest control from them. This has been true all over the world, yet it has to start or the criminals will continue to control the border. As the new President has I am sure figured out not going full tilt into a war on the Cartels has not provided his citizens the safety he thought it would. You have to go full tilt into the Criminals and the corruption of the leaders in Mexico, or they will continue to grow stronger, and when you do have to go after them or the citizens revolt, Many more people will have to die.

This picture is taken from the banks of the Rio Grande River, near Roma Texas. You can see Cartel gunmen often on the other side of the river. The town across the river is constantly a war zone, I have worked border security all over the world and this is some of the most dangerous border areas I have ever witnessed. The Cartels have fired bursts of machine gun fire with tracer rounds over the heads of Texas National Guard units. Even the Gaza Stirp rarely has seen the type of fire power the Cartels use virtually every night in this area. Like the Gaza Strip, I try and get out of the Roma Texas area before night fall.. If you follow the Cartels as I do, you know these gunmen are usually drunk and or high on drugs, so their aim is not always spot on. Why our Texas National Guard has not had more wounded, is hard to understand. And how we are to respond when they do kill our folks is not all that clear. But we need to come up with one, the Cartels get more brazen each day.

But throwing all that aside, this was preventable, if the victim had been aware of his surroundings, When out drinking at a bar, always have a sober companion. around you to look out for you. People do not realize how even one drink can impair your awareness capabilities. With this many people involved, the danger should have stud out like a sore thumb. Trained operatives have a hard time not showing their hand in these numbers Untrained probably where telegraphing their intentions for some time. Someone in the bar should have notified the police or at least management as to what was going on. With all the people involved the bar could be liable for not reporting this to the Police before it happened. We all need to keep an eye our for situations like this. The last situation I was in like this was a very drunk young lady in a restaurant bar. As I was waiting for carry out, she was tough not to notice, nor where the predator's around her had to miss. I had the casher get the manager and told them if something happen to the girl, I would be a witness against the restaurant, they ended up caller her a cab. We all need to be aware, and do what we can to protect people, even from themselves. .

You think the holiday travel season looked bad before, think how attacks like these will effect it. I have worked on airport cyber security for years, they are always getting better, but it is very hard to stop a concentrated attack. In many cases you have to bring the system down, just to make sure if any damage was done. That alone could bring huge delays to the system, but if you try to keep running while you check out the system, much worse can happen. The bad guys are always looking for the weakest ;;link and with all the different systems used at airports it usually is not that hard to find one.
