EMPC - Experimental & Mathematical Physics Consultants EMPC - Radiation Effects Analysis and Calculations and 3D Design Modeling of Space Systems - the Only Source to License the NOVICE Software Suite

EMPC is the space and defense industry’s trusted source for 3D analysis of space radiation effects on spacecraft and components and design calculations to maximize space system performance and lifespan. EMPC licenses the industry-leading NOVICE software suite to the leading governmental space agencies and private space and defense companies, ranging from NASA to SpaceX to the European Space Agency

to Airbus, among many others. EMPC also provides consulting services to NOVICE licensees and non-licensees alike facing challenging radiation effects issues in the space, aerospace, defense, and medical industries. Founded in 1972 by company president Thomas Jordan, EMPC has been a key partner in the development and application of requirements-driven solutions for radiation effects on space systems in the science, defense, and communications spheres, including the Global Positioning System (GPS) and CubeSats. EMPC has performed a critical role in the success of many of the key satellite and probe programs of the post-Apollo era, from Voyager and Galileo to the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes, to today’s New Horizons and tomorrow’s exciting new probes. EMPC pursues an innovative and evolving approach to radiation transport methods, offering clients industry-leading expertise and solutions in the analysis of space systems.

EMPC's NOVICE Software Suite has been mission validated on hundreds of space systems from Voyager to Juno to Hubble Space Telescope, and hundreds of commercial and defense satellites.

This paper provides *experimental* verification of NOVICE. The ADJOINT (or 'reverse') Monte Carlo method was developed by EMPC. The space systems industry has since come to rely on NOVICE ADJOINT Monte Carlo for precision analysis of radiation effects on space systems, subsystems and components.

In a newly published paper, scientists from NASA’s Juno mission describe the ways in which lightning on Jupiter is actually analogous to Earth’s lightning. Although, in some ways, the two types of lightning are polar opposites.

Every time new observations result from the Juno mission, EMPC is thankful to have played a role in the design of the spacecraft and the success of the mission.
The stunning images of Jupiter are the most recent publicly shared material from Juno.

NASA's Juno spacecraft made its first close pass by Jupiter's big red spot, and it's got the pictures to prove it.

EMPC announces its most recent innovation: the NOVICE Software Suite now offers the ability to instantly change within the NOVICE GUI the material descriptor for any space system or component imported from a CAD file.
This process enables faster, more flexible 3D design and analysis.
The new materials-parameter changing capability is a proprietary innovation, available only from EMPC and only with the NOVICE Software Suite.
