🪰 Seeing giant wasps flying low over your yard? They might be cicada killers!
Despite their intimidating size, cicada killer wasps are actually one of the more docile insects you'll encounter.
Here's what you should know:
✅ They help control cicada populations.
✅ Males may "buzz" people to protect their territory, but they can't sting.
✅ Females can sting, but they're very unlikely to unless they're handled or feel threatened.
✅ They often dig small burrows in sandy or loose soil, leaving little mounds of dirt around the entrance.
While they're generally beneficial, large numbers around patios, playgrounds, or high-traffic areas can become a nuisance.
