I'm gonna brag for a second.
I was asked less than a month ago to organize another race, and the community stepped up. Two stands built, wood cut, word spread, miles travelled, saws built, and new folks introduced to the sport. We had a great crowd, great racers, solid competition, and a premium effort by the whole crew. People thanked me today for doing this, but I get so much joy out of it. The real thanks goes to all of the other volunteers.
Thank you to Roger Jahn for being the impetus for this. Thank you to Melissa Duncan for putting the right people in touch, and making timing look effortless. Thank you to Terry mcKinniss for keeping the mic hot, times logged, and a racer on the stand. Oh, and the music great. Frank Flinner for making the trip just to keep cants marked and the racing moving along at a steady pace. And to so many more people for moving cants, helping others start saws, helping the new folks make their first hit, and much much more.
I love this. I love saw racing, the people, the shared passion for handheld hotrods, the communal effort to turn a parking lot in a small town into the best place to be on a Saturday in May.
So, thank you for turning this obscure, weird obsession into something great we can share.
