Front-Line Services joined forces with Pathway to Better Health and Greater Lowell Health Alliance to kick off Pride Month with a luncheon on building resilience in the LGBTQ+ community.

Lowell Five Bank hosted the luncheon at its headquarters in Tewksbury on Thursday for about two dozen local representatives of public health departments, non-profits and mental health programs.

Front-Line Services President and CEO Matthew Page-Shelton and Jess Wisocky of Pathway to Better Health led a multi-faceted discussion of wellness and mental health in the LGBTQ+ community, and what can be done to build resilience and support community members.

The luncheon was aimed at providing attendees a deeper understanding of the physical and mental health challenges facing the LGBTQ+ community, identifying what stigma-free healthcare is, and about the services Pathway to Better Health and Front-Line Service's BProud program can provide to Greater Lowell residents.

Pathway to Better Health is a Lowell clinic that specializes in caring for marginalized populations with a focus on caring for the Q***r and HIV-positive communities.

Front Line Services is a behavioral health company focused on aiding both agencies and individuals with addressing behavioral health by providing consultation, training, community services and direct care.

The non-profit Greater Lowell Health Alliance (GLHA) brings together healthcare providers, business leaders, educators, and community members to improve the overall health and wellness of the Greater Lowell region.

By joining forces, Front-Line Services, Pathway to Better Health and GLHA are working to address serious concerns about access to quality healthcare for local members of the LGBTQ+ community.

A 2025 survey of the Greater Lowell LGBTQ+ community found that:

— More than 60 percent of respondents reported experiencing mental health issues
— 39 percent reported attempting or considering su***de
— 62 percent of respondents reported that they are unable to afford medical care.

A nationwide survey found that 56 percent of sexual minorities reported experiencing discrimination from a healthcare provider.

"We are kicking off Pride Month by joining forces here in Greater Lowell to draw attention to and address serious deficiencies in the availability of quality health care and behavioral healthcare to members of the community," said Page-Shelton. "We hope that by educating providers, non-profits, and professionals, we can help improve the supports available to those who struggle with identity, mental health, and acceptance."

Front-Line Services is also a sponsor of Greater Lowell Pride 2026, scheduled for Saturday, June 13 in downtown Lowell. Greater Lowell Pride 2026 will include a series of events including a flag-raising at Lowell City Hall and the Greater Lowell Pride Festival.

All of us at Front-Line Services would like to thank the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Revolutionary Valley for hosting a free panel discussion on LGBTQ+ issues that our President and CEO Matthew Page-Shelton participated in on Friday in Lowell.

Matthew was one of four panelists who participated in a lively and important discussion about the panelists’ personal and professional journeys, the realities facing LGBTQ+ individuals in communities and workplaces, and the role businesses can play in creating more welcoming and supportive environments.

The other three panelists were Kaye M. H. Crawford, of Rainbow Dracuteers; Laura Lamarre Anderson, of Lala Books, and Alexandria Eberhardt, of the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce.

The discussion was held in the offices of Revolutionary Valley, the newly renamed chamber of commerce for the Merrimack Valley.

The panel resulted in an informative and inspiring discussion about the hope that LGBTQ+ individuals have for the future, and an informative discussion about several ways in which businesses can take steps to create safe environments for all.

As the proud providers of the BProud program, Front-Line was thrilled to participate in this forward-looking discussion in the City of Lowell.

Please join our CEO Matthew for this panel.

Chief Executive Officer Matthew Page-Shelton provided Mental Health First Aid training to 100 staff members from Region 1 of Headstart in Nashua, N.H. Over the past two weeks, Page-Shelton worked to better equip those who work with children to respond to mental health emergencies.

Mental Health First Aid is recognized nationally for teaching participants to recognize mental health and substance use challenges, to successfully interact with those facing those challenges, and to connect people to appropriate supports.

Much like courses in CPR and First Aid, Mental Health First Aid is a course that provides participants with a certification allowing them to utilize their skills in the community.

Front-Line Services has provided Mental Health First Aid training to over 500 individuals in the past four years.

We offer training courses in Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Social Emotional Learning, Cultural Responsiveness, CoResponse, and LGBTQIA+ issues.

Our team at Front-Line Services was thrilled to attend the Safe Homes Gala and People of Courage Awards earlier this month, as we leant our support to protecting and empowering LGBTQIA+ youth.

Safe Homes is a Central Massachusetts non-profit that ensures LGBTQIA+ youth and those who are exploring their sexual orientation, gender identities, and expressions, have a nurturing, safe space to be themselves and access vital support.

The annual Gala and People of Courage Awards raises money for the Safe Homes program, which operates a drop-in program serving youth ages 14-23 in Worcester County.

CEO Matthew Page-Shelton and Joseph Page-Shelton attended in support of Safe Homes, and were joined by Jessica and Jannease of a Front-Line partner agency, Pathway To Better Health.

Are you a member of the LGBTQ+ community who is in need of mental health support, possibly at a discount rate?

Our BProud program is here to help.

A nationwide 2025 study found that more than 60 percent of respondents from the LGBTQ+ community reported experiencing mental health issues. Over 33 percent of LGBTQ+ respondents said they had attempted or thought about su***de, and over 27 percent reported that their mental health worsened in the past year.

While identifying as LGBTQ+ is not a mental illness, pervasive interpersonal and structural discrimination increases risk for anxiety, depression, and trauma among members of the community.

We are a proudly LGBTQ+ owned business, and our BProud program features therapists who are members of the LGBTQ+ community. BProud helps individuals explore their gender identity and sexual orientation while supporting individualized mental health needs.

For those experiencing financial stress, Front Line Services and BProud may be able to offer discounted services. In 2025, we provided $20,345 worth of donated mental health services to patients across Massachusetts, and we have programs to help those in need.
