Residential Structure Fire | Judy Street

At approximately 1:45 a.m., East Fork Fire Protection District responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 1300 block of Judy Street.

Initial reports indicated a fire on the rear porch had extended into the residence. Both occupants were able to safely evacuate prior to the arrival of fire crews.

First-arriving units encountered heavy fire involvement throughout the home.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The residence sustained extensive fire damage. Crews remained on scene into the morning conducting salvage and overhaul operations, extinguishing remaining hot spots and protecting property where possible.

East Fork Fire Protection District would like to thank South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, Tahoe Douglas Fire District, and carsoncity_firedepartment for their on-scene mutual aid assistance.

While East Fork resources were committed to the incident, MONO COUNTY EMS RESCUE, Tahoe Douglas Fire District, and Central Lyon Fire assisted with district coverage to ensure emergency response remained available throughout our communities.

Eagle Fire Final Update | August 15 | Douglas County, NV

The Eagle Fire is now 100% contained.

Firefighters continued to patrol the fire today, checking the perimeter and working remaining areas of heat. Minimal heat was found, allowing incident resources to begin transitioning out of the area.

Command of the incident is being transitioned to an engine crew. Firefighters will return tomorrow for a final patrol and monitoring shift, with the fire expected to be called controlled around midday.

The Eagle Fire remains at approximately 148 acres, based on the most recent ground-truthed mapping. The fire is located north of Topaz Ranch Estates.

Thank you to the firefighters, cooperators, and community members who supported the response and gave crews room to work safely.

This will be the final update for the Eagle Fire unless conditions change.

Eagle Fire Update | August 14, 2026 | Douglas County, NV

Firefighters made significant progress Friday on the Eagle Fire, located north of Topaz Ranch Estates (TRE), increasing containment to 70 percent following a full operational shift around the fire perimeter.

Improved weather conditions allowed crews to access all areas of the fire and focus on remaining heat along the perimeter. Firefighters identified several areas of concern on the north end of the fire, where steep, rugged terrain and heavy fuels continued to hold heat. A helicopter assisted ground crews with bucket drops in these areas, allowing firefighters to secure the remaining problem spots.

No precipitation was received over the fire Friday, and fuels continued to dry following rainfall earlier in the week. As conditions dried, remaining heat became more visible and allowed crews to identify and address hot spots.

Updated ground mapping places the Eagle Fire at approximately 148 acres. The previous acreage of 151 acres was based on an infrared flight. Friday's acreage reflects more detailed mapping completed by personnel on the ground.

Crews will return Saturday to thoroughly check the perimeter and continue searching for and extinguishing remaining heat. Once the fireline has been checked, firefighters will begin working farther into the interior on visible smoke and isolated hot spots.

The helicopter will remain assigned to the Eagle Fire but available for initial attack if needed.

If progress continues as expected, staffing on the Eagle Fire will begin to decrease Saturday, with engines remaining to patrol and check the fire through Sunday.

Eagle Fire Update | August 13 | Douglas County, NV

The Eagle Fire remains at 151 acres. Containment is expected to increase to approximately 30% this evening as firefighters continue improving and securing fireline.

Crews continued working the Eagle Fire today, taking advantage of cooler, wetter conditions to strengthen and improve fireline. Rain moved across the fire intermittently throughout the day, though precipitation was less substantial than Wednesday.

While recent moisture has moderated fire behavior, pockets of heat remain, particularly in heavier fuels and areas of pinyon-juniper. Crews are continuing to identify and extinguish heat near the fire’s edge to reduce the potential for activity as conditions dry.

Approximately half of the fire is burning within an older fire scar, primarily in grass and sagebrush. Other portions of the fire include pinyon-juniper, including heavier pockets where heat can persist longer after rainfall.

On Friday, crews will continue working around the fire perimeter, focusing on strengthening fireline and extinguishing remaining heat. Due to the remote and rugged terrain, firefighters are hiking or being shuttled by UTV into portions of the fire. A helicopter will remain assigned to support operations as needed

Eagle Fire Update | August 12 | Douglas County, NV

The Eagle Fire is currently 151 acres and 20% contained.

The fire received significant precipitation today, which helped moderate fire activity. Firefighters also reinforced portions of the fireline with retardant. Crews were removed from the fire this afternoon due to thunderstorms and weather conditions.

Firefighters will return early tomorrow morning to continue working the fire. Crews will focus on improving and securing containment lines while conditions allow. Heavy fuels continue to burn within the fire area, and additional work remains.

The US Wildland Fire Service has assumed command of the Eagle Fire. East Fork Fire Protection District remains engaged as a cooperating agency.

Road closures remain in place at Minnehaha Canyon at Canyon Road and Ricky Canyon off Upper Colony in Wellington.

Topaz Lake will reopen tomorrow. Fixed-wing aircraft have been released from the incident. A helicopter will remain assigned to support firefighter safety and operations as needed.

🔥 Eagle Fire Update | August 12 | Douglas County, Nevada

The lightning-caused Eagle Fire is burning on a ridgetop above Minnehaha Canyon. East Fork Fire and the National Wildland Fire Service are in Unified Command.

The fire is currently 0% contained, with no structures lost.

The fire is burning in remote, difficult-to-access terrain. Firefighters are using aircraft to directly attack the fire, with two Single Engine Air Tankers and two scooper aircraft currently supporting operations. A structure group is also in place, with additional resources expected today.

Topaz Lake:
Topaz Lake closed at 10:00 a.m. today while scooper aircraft are in operation.

Road Closures:
Road closures are in place today to give firefighters room to safely access and work the fire:
• Minnehaha Canyon at Canyon Road
• Ricky Canyon off Upper Colony in Wellington

Please avoid these areas and allow extra travel time as fire personnel and equipment move through the area.

⛈️ Weather: Localized thunderstorms are possible today, bringing the potential for heavy lightning and flooding. Fire managers will continue monitoring conditions with firefighter and public safety in mind.

RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE - CEDAR CIRCLE

On Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m., East Fork Fire Protection District responded to a reported residential structure fire on Cedar Circle in Gardnerville.

The first-arriving Battalion Chief reported a well-involved home with fire extending into the surrounding wildland. Strong winds contributed to significant fire behavior and threatened multiple neighboring residences. All occupants were safely out of the home prior to crews arriving.

Firefighters worked simultaneously to suppress the structure fire, protect neighboring homes, and contain the wildland fire. Crews also faced additional hazards, including a large propane tank exposed to the fire and actively off-gassing, strong winds, and a limited hydrant system that could not fully support the water demands of the incident.

Despite these challenges, firefighters were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes.

The residence sustained severe fire damage. Crews remained on scene after containment to complete overhaul and extinguish remaining hot spots.
