Just some pre winter advice:
Cool nights lead to cooler days. Soon it will be time to turn on the dreaded heat.
Before the days are really cold it’s time for your annual furnace or oil burner tune up. Don’t wait till your heating system says “enough-not today “ on the coldest day. Also change your air filters. Blocked filters are the number one cause of high heating costs

There were 5 people at the drive up that ignored me What lousy service. Didn’t even say be there in a minute. Does it really need five people to do drive up?

May is national Deck inspection month. How many years have gone by without having your deck looked at. Winter months effect decks by slowly melting snow. This keeps wood wet longer promoting rot and helping the connecting points such as joist hangers and nails to quietly rust through.
Take that extra step and make sure your deck is safe for your summer get togethers. Summer month get togetherg place extra load on all parts of the deck, railings and stairs

Wooden decks take a beating when there is repeat snow falls. The snow melts slowly and the wood stays wet longer. Wood rot is usually hidden.
The moisture also affects support points such as connection hardware ie bolts that can rust and joist hangers can rust and weaken. At your earliest warm day we suggest inspecting your deck both from the top and the underside

Today is the perfect day for you to get into your attic with a flashlight and look for leaks. Check around your chimneys and vent pipes. Fixing a small leak before it turns in something big is being proactive.

Nows the time to check needed exterior maintenance. Walk around your house
Are there any shingles on the ground; check your roof. time to check for clogged gutters; any loose or missing shutters; clear any stored wood from under decks or next to the building; start thinking of getting your yearly furnace/boiler checkup and look at your chimney- loose bricks, missing caps cracked crowns. Any black 🐜 ants. They are jus as destructive as termites. How about exterior faucets any leaks.
Check windows and doors any cracked glass or bare wood, rotting sills. Check siding any loose panels
Check all wall penetrations are all caulked and sealed.
