* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southwestern Floyd County in southeastern Kentucky...
Northeastern Knott County in southeastern Kentucky...

* Until 200 AM EDT.

* At 1053 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Hindman, Estill, Pippa Passes, Wayland, Larkslane, Hollybush,
Raven, Mousie, Kite, Topmost, Betty, Demo, Glo, Dry Creek, Garner,
Bolyn, Porter Junction, Garret, Handshoe and Hall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast and southeast Kentucky, including
the following counties, in northeast Kentucky, Johnson. In
southeast Kentucky, Breathitt, Floyd, Knott, Magoffin, Morgan and
Wolfe.

* WHEN...Until 1230 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 926 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will allow minor flooding
to persist or worsen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Prestonsburg, Salyersville, Mason, Simpson, Carver, Conley

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...The Flood Watch includes the Kentucky counties of Estill,
Menifee, Powell, Johnson, Martin, Rockcastle, Breathitt, Clay,
Floyd, Jackson, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan,
Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe.

* WHEN...The Flood Watch is in effect until 6 AM EDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks,
streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- An area of thunderstorms will move slowly south through the
region tonight. Where thunderstorms are most persistent,
flash flooding could result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flash Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

EDT...

At 857 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Board Tree to Buckhorn Hollow to Hardshell.
Movement was southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Pikeville, Hazard, Prestonsburg, Jackson, Hindman, Simpson, Estill,
Bath, Coal Run Village, Elkhorn City, Wheelwright, Martin, Pippa
Passes, Forest Hills, Wayland, Allen, Elic, Meta, Buck, and Handshoe.
