PART TWO WAS A BLAST! 🚒🚑🔥

The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful for our second Fire Prevention Community Day this past Saturday at Station 2! What a great afternoon of fun, laughter, and fellowship with our community. From the little ones to the grown folks, everybody got in on the fun!

A big thank you to everyone who came out and spent the afternoon with us. We love getting the opportunity to connect with our community, share a little fire safety knowledge, and put some smiles on those faces. That’s what it’s all about! ❤️

🔥 Another busy Saturday night for the Gary Fire Department! 🚒🚑

At approximately 10:16 p.m., our crews responded to a structure fire at 129 W. 22nd Avenue, where they encountered a two-story abandoned building fully involved in flames. Firefighters went straight to work, battling intense conditions from the exterior. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.

Gary firefighters have never been strangers to hard work, and Saturday night was no exception! Nothing but love, pride, and respect for the hardworking men and women who continue to answer the call and give their all for the city we proudly serve! 💪🏾❤️

🚒🚑🔥 Fire Prevention Month is still going strong! Yesterday morning, we had the pleasure of visiting WILLIAMS ELEMENTARY and BETHUNE EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT, and man, did these kids make our day!

We talked fire safety, shared some laughs, answered plenty of questions, and had an absolute ball! Seeing those little faces light up reminds us just how special it is to get out into our community and connect with our children. ❤️

A BIG THANK YOU to the students, teachers, and staff at BOTH schools! You welcomed us with open arms, and we felt the love!

And to our wonderful educators, the love and dedication you pour into these children every day does not go unnoticed. You’re helping build the foundation for Gary’s future, and we appreciate everything you do!

OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE… and that future is looking MIGHTY BRIGHT! ❤️🔥

And speaking of our children, we hope to see everyone tomorrow at FIRE PREVENTION COMMUNITY DAY at STATION 2! Bring the kids out for some family fun and a chance to meet MARSHALL, THE FIREFIGHTING DALMATIAN FROM PAW PATROL! 🐶🐾

This morning, the Engine 7 crew and Fire Prevention, kept Fire Prevention Month rolling at Charter School of the Dunes! 🔥🚒

When we visit our schools, we get the kids involved with simple fire safety slogans we hope they’ll never need, but never forget.

“GET LOW AND GO!” means stay low beneath the smoke and make your way out.

“GET OUT AND STAY OUT!” means once you’re safely outside, don’t go back in! Get to your family’s designated meeting spot and let the firefighters handle the rest.

Our Smoke House makes those lessons fun and hands-on, giving the kids a chance to practice safely in a controlled environment using simulated smoke. 🏠💨 Teaching them early so they’ll know what to do if it ever matters most.

🚒🚑 After leaving Ambassador Christian Academy, we headed over to RAINEY DAYS CHILD CARE, where we had a ball spending time with some of our youngest little learners!

We always love reaching children at an early age, introducing them to fire safety and helping them build a strong foundation of good habits that can prevent accidents and prepare them for emergencies. We talked about staying safe, what to do if a fire breaks out, and why it’s important to never be afraid of a firefighter coming to help.

Lots of smiles, excitement, and curious little minds eager to learn! ❤️ It’s never too early to start teaching lessons that could one day save a life! 🔥

🚒🔥 We kicked off week two of this year’s Fire Prevention Month with a great visit to AMBASSADOR CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, where we engaged with more than 200 students!

Our Gary Firefighters from TRUCK COMPANY 2 and the FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU spent time teaching the kids about fire safety, ways to prevent fires, and what to do in an emergency. We also talked about creating a family escape plan and demonstrated how smoke alarms work.

The kids brought plenty of energy and great questions! Another great day of sharing important lessons that can save lives! 🚒❤️
