Vibe Coder or Lucid Coder — there's a real difference and most people haven't stopped to think about it.

A Vibe Coder prompts based on a feeling and hopes the output is right. A Lucid Coder comes in with written requirements, knows what the outcome should look like, and already has a clear picture of the end result before the AI writes a single line.

A Vibe Coder doesn't recognize or know how to fix strange outputs. A Lucid Coder catches it immediately and corrects it.

One of these people is dreaming. The other one knows it.

If you have a background in UX, business analysis, product management, or QA — you've probably been a Lucid Coder this whole time without a name for it.

I've never liked the term vibe coding. I don't think it truly captures what some of us are doing.

I have a background in UX, business analysis, product management, and QA. Eighteen years inside software development gave me a firm foundation in the entire product lifecycle. When I prompt an AI it's not a feeling — I have requirements written down, I know the outcomes, and I already know what the end result should look like before I sit down.

That's not vibing. That's Lucid Coding.

Those who know when they are dreaming and can control their dreams are lucid dreamers.

AI is like the dream. I'm the lucid one.

If you're intentional and thoughtful about building with AI and use it as a tool coupled with real technical expertise — the term is yours too. Claim it and spread the word.

Etsy gurus tell you to duplicate listings to create more traffic to your shop. Here's why that advice is actually working against you.
The logic makes sense on the surface — more listings means more ways for buyers to find you. But it splits your traffic across multiple listings, which drops your conversion rate on all of them. You end up competing with yourself instead of building momentum in one place.

Etsy's algorithm has caught up with this strategy. One strong listing with variations keeps your sales history and reviews stacking in one place, and that's what actually signals to Etsy that you're the real deal for that product.

This is one of the first things I look at in a Shattered Bulb shop assessment. If your shop traffic looks okay but conversions aren't following, this might be why.

In 2017 a customer said "I don't know what that is but let's go for it." That one moment turned a hollow book safe business into a movie prop replica business. Nobody planned it. A customer pushed and a maker figured it out.

That's what listening to your customers actually looks like in practice. Eleven years later the Dr. Loomis books from Rob Zombie's Halloween movies are at the printer.

If you sell on Etsy and you've stopped listening to what your customers are actually asking for you may be in trouble. That's one of the conversations I have with sellers at Shattered Bulb.
