Prairie State Winery We opened in 1998 as the 16th winery in Illinois- Now there are over 100! Our tasting room and kitchen are open Wednesday-Sunday.

One time school teachers, Rick and Maria Mamoser decided to forgo the long commute into the suburbs for a “simpler life” as business owners. Prairie State Mercantile opened at their current location in July, 1998. Selling finer goods, including wine, made exclusively in Illinois (The Prairie State), they were on the leading edge of the “keep it local” movement, winning multiple statewide awards fo

r their concept. Prairie State Winery soon followed (fall of 1999), expanding the concept by producing wines made exclusively from Illinois grown grapes. With their home winemaking experience, science background, and immersion into national wine curriculum, they soon started garnering many awards for their wines as well. With the first vintage of only 500 gallons to the most recent vintages of nearly 10,000 gallons, Rick and Maria continue to promote the philosophy of “Think Globally” with their added “Drink Locally” to boot.

Tours will be led by our esteemed winemaker Rick Mamoser and feature our barrel room, bottling line, production facility, sparkling line, distillation equipment, and more.

The tour will last about one hour and start with a tasting of wine in the barrel room! You will have time during and after the tour to ask questions about the amazing wine making and distilling processes.

Our first tasting and tours of the summer are

Saturday, June 20th
1:00pm-2:15pm
and
3:00pm-4:15pm

Each time slot can accommodate 16 people.

Participants must be able to use stairs and stand for 1+ hours, as there will be no chairs available.

All participants must be 21+.

Tickets for this event are $15 and may be purchased on our website. https://prairiestatewinery.com/collection/events

Before or after your tour, you are welcome to enjoy all the offerings of the tasting room

and kitchen!

All tour participants will meet, 15 minutes prior to your selected tour, in the tasting room at 222 West Main Street, Genoa Il.
