Pumper/Tanker 8723 and Chief 8703 made quick work of this forklift fire at Mullins Salvage. Everyone walked away safe.

PRESS RELEASE: GRFPD was contacted via landline regarding a box filled with sticks of dynamite. Officers with the Gasconade County Sheriff's Office & Rosebud Police Department were dispatched by Gasconade County E-911. GAAD ambulance also responded. First arriving officer had good suspicion that the dynamite was sweating and potentially off gassing. Fire crews began evacuation of nearby buildings & businesses. Highway 50 was shut down, the Franklin County HAZMAT Team & the bomb squad was dispatched. Upon further investigation it was deemed by personnel that they were large road flares and were of no hazard to the public. Surrounding areas resumed normal business and the flares were disposed of appropriately.

The Gerald-Rosebud Fire Protection District is proud to announce the implementation of our Fire Prevention Bureau and Fire Marshal’s Office.

Beginning September 9, 2026, the District will begin enforcement of the adopted fire code for existing and new commercial occupancies within the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Protection District’s coverage area.

The District’s Board of Directors has appointed Battalion Chief Hayden Schoenfeld as Fire Marshal and Captain Anthony Wehmeyer as Deputy Fire Marshal. Both have completed the State of Missouri Fire Inspector training program.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOUR BUSINESS?

Our Fire Marshal’s Office will conduct fire and life-safety inspections of commercial occupancies throughout our community. The purpose isn’t simply to find violations — it’s to prevent fires, protect lives, and help local businesses identify and correct hazards before an emergency occurs.

Our office will work with business owners, employees, and the public to:

✔️ Identify potential fire and life-safety hazards
✔️ Conduct annual fire inspections
✔️ Assist businesses with understanding fire-code requirements
✔️ Review plans and fire protection systems
✔️ Issue applicable fire and occupancy permits
✔️ Address fire-safety complaints and concerns
✔️ Assist with fire investigations
✔️ Provide fire prevention education
✔️ Work with businesses to correct hazards and improve safety

WE ARE HERE TO HELP

A fire inspection should not be viewed simply as an enforcement action. It is an opportunity to have trained fire professionals look at your facility from a firefighter’s perspective and identify things that could become a problem during an emergency.

Our goal is to build relationships with the businesses we serve and work together toward a safer Gerald, Rosebud, and surrounding community.

A SAFER BUSINESS IS A STRONGER COMMUNITY

A successful fire prevention program can help protect your employees, customers, property, and investment. It can also help firefighters better understand the buildings and hazards they may encounter during an emergency.

Additionally, a strong fire prevention program may contribute to improvements in the District’s ISO/PPC rating, which could potentially have a positive impact on insurance costs for some property owners.
