Sonoma vineyards feel beautifully haunted this time of year.

The fog rolls in low over the vines, the canopy drops, and the fruit hangs there concentrating everything the season has to give. Cool nights, warm days, coastal fog pulling back like a curtain each morning. It's the kind of tension that makes a grape work for it and a w**e worth drinking.

The Kalimotxo, made right. Equal parts cola and Banshee Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon, a squeeze of lemon, poured over ice. This w**e has enough depth from cool-climate fruit to hold its own against anything you mix it with. It sounds unexpected until it's in your hand, then it just makes sense. Some of the best discoveries come from breaking the rules with a w**e confident enough to take it.
