PEEK-A-BOO! 👻 👶🏻

Such a simple little game but there’s a lot happening behind those laughs! 😄

As infants grow, they begin learning that people & objects can still exist even when they can’t see them. Add in anticipation, repetition, facial expressions & that exciting “BOO!” moment, & it’s easy to see why babies have so much fun. 💕

Sometimes the simplest play can support learning, connection, & lots of smiles. What’s the game your baby wants to play over & over again?

Infants aren’t just smaller toddlers. 👶🏻💕

During the first year, infants have needs that are very different from those of older, more independent children.

🍼 Feeding is frequent & individualized. Some babies take bottles every few hours while others are beginning solids, & those needs continue changing as they grow.

😴 Sleep schedules vary. Young infants may still need several naps throughout the day rather than following one group schedule.

👶🏻 Infants develop at their own pace. Each baby is unique, reaching new physical, social & communication milestones on their own individual timeline.

💕Infants need lots of individual attention. Comforting, feeding, floor play, interaction, & simply responding to their cues are a big part of the day.

That’s why Peace of Mind Infant Care focuses exclusively on infants through their first year. Infant care isn’t something we fit around the needs of older children- it’s what we specialize in. 💜

If you’ve ever wondered why babies seem absolutely fascinated by dropping the same toy over and over…there’s actually a lot of learning happening!

Through repetition, babies are beginning to explore cause & effect, practice grasping & releasing objects, & discover that different objects create different results.

And when you pick that toy up for the 37th time? You’ve become part of the experiment too. 🤪 💕

Fun Friday fact! 📫👶🏻

Did you know there was actually a time when children were sent through the U.S. mail?! 😳
Don’t worry- they weren’t stuffed into boxes or tossed into the back of a mail truck. 😂 But in the early days of Parcel Post, a few families really did take advantage of postal service rates to transport their children.

Why does EVERYTHING end up in a baby’s mouth? 😂👶🏻

If you’ve ever watched a baby carefully examine a toy…only to immediately put it in their mouth, there’s a reason!

Mouthing is one of the ways babies explore & learn about their world. As their reaching & grasping skills develop, their hands & mouths work together to help them discover new textures, shapes & sensations.

And while teething can certainly increase chewing, not every trip to the mouth is about teething. Sometimes they’re simply learning! 🧠💕
