Glacier Fire & Rescue Volunteer Association is hosting its first annual Share the Shred Winter Marketplace. This is your chance to clean out your closet, score great deals on winter gear, and support your local volunteer firefighters.

Do you have items to sell? Are you looking to purchase something specific this season? Or do you want to just hang out with your community, have a cup of coffee, swap snow stories, and learn more about winter safety?

Drop-Off Window: Drop off your clean, functional winter gear during our designated check-in window so we can get it tagged and ready for the sale.

Pricing: You set the price for your items.

Fundraising Support: 20% of your sale will support the Glacier Fire & Rescue Volunteer Association

IMPORTANT APPAREL POLICY: All clothing, jackets, gloves, and soft goods MUST be freshly laundered, completely dry, and free of stains/colors/odors. Items that are damp, dirty, or smell will be rejected at check-in. No duct tape.

Whatcom County burn restrictions are officially lifted as of October 1, 2026 at 8:00 AM.

Reminder - verbal and/or written permits are still required for outdoor burning outside of legal recreational fires.

Please continue to use caution when burning. We've seen plenty of rain but vegetation is still recovering from our dry summer.

Come join us on Sunday, September 13th from 8:00 – 11:00 AM for breakfast and a chat about being more Firewise.

The highway will be closed just east of Snowater until noon for the Mt. Baker Hill Climb. After you cheer on the riders, come down to the station and have breakfast with the volunteers of Glacier Fire & Rescue.

It’s the last weekend for brush dropoff!

Open Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 AM to12:00 PM.

Bring your tree limbs, yard debris, piles of vegetation…anything that is a potential fire hazard around your property.

More weekend dropoff dates added!

Glacier community, thank you for your efforts in cleaning up our community and making it more firewise. Throughout July, we welcomed many of you at our yard and together we built a significant pile of debris that we'll be chipping in the coming weeks.

It was a great response and we want to keep the momentum going, so we will be open the first three weekends in August.

Saturday and Sunday, 8AM to 12 PM.

Glacier Fire & Rescue was recently awarded a $13,000 grant from the EMS Foundation of Whatcom County.

The grant money helps us outfit our new aid unit and will improve communications and response in our remote eastern part of the county.

Glacier Fire & Rescue supports emergency medical response up the 542 corridor. And we work alongside great partners like the Mt. Baker Ski Area, Whatcom County Fire District 14 and Bellingham Mountain Rescue

We are incredibly thankful to the EMS Foundation of Whatcom County for their dedication to enhancing medical services and supporting first responders within the county.

Glacier Fire & Rescue is auctioning off a 2004 F350 XL ambulance with 15,000 miles.

The highest bidder at time of auction close will be notified within 72 hours of winning bid.

Thanks to everyone who came out on July 3rd and helped us kick off Fish & Chip’R Days! What a turnout! Whether you dropped by for a quick bite or stayed to chat and learn more about being Firewise, your support is greatly appreciated.

We ate A LOT of fish & chips - special thank you to Paellaworks LLC who donated the food for the event. We’re so proud of our Glacier community!

REMINDER: Every Saturday and Sunday in July – from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM – you can drop off brush, small trees, and other vegetation from your property at our collection site and we’ll take care of the chipping.

Tidying up your property to make it more defensible is one of the most effective ways to improve wildfire resilience in our community. Whether you are cleaning up a few branches, or tackling a bigger project, every bit helps!

Reminder: Lots happening on Friday, July 3rd.

Our annual Safety Palooza event takes place from 8:00 AM to Noon.

In the evening, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, we're launching Fish & Chip'R Days, a month-long series of events for our community to help reduce wildfire risk. Of course we're kicking it off with a fish and chips feed!
